Thank-you for another great lesson Marty. I learnt this song 'back in the day' by surreptitiously watching a friend (who came from a musical family and had a much better 'ear' for music than I ever did). Actually, I learnt A LOT of songs this way, which very probably annoyed my mate no end. Anyway, to the point, I think that many aspiring or beginning guitarists could benefit greatly from a lesson or even a full course on ear training. Just a thought. Again, appreciate this song but it has given me the strong urge to play GTA 'Vice City' (when I should really be practicing GUITAR 😃

At 3:00 Marty says he likes to play the chords in the middle of the neck...but if you're a beginner you can play them down in the open position. However, I watched the more recent video of Tears for Fears playing it (as now old guys) and the open position is where they play it.

I think for thinking about the chords up the neck in the verse it's maybe easier to remember them as Dmaj7 then G6. I'm maybe hearing Dmaj9 in the original. (also in first position too for that matter.)
