@@TheMrMarkW I'm with you, this re-arrangement kills everything that was great on the album version. I'd say they tried to chop the song up and make it more abstract, like Frankie Goes To Hollywood or Arcadia, and just went overboard. I don't think "America" asked for this!

Dad dancing wasn't Dad dancing in the 80's--it was young people dancing. To quote Grampa from the Simpsons: "I use to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was, and now what I'm with isn't it." It eventually will happen to everyone--assuming you live long enough.

I’ve always felt that Ian Stanley and Manny Elias never got enough recognition for what they’ve done during their time with Tears for Fears. Ian’s synths made each song so awesome and Manny’s drumming was just cool. In my opinion Tears for Fears just hasn’t sounded the same after they left. They’re still good, just not as good as when Ian and Manny were with them.

The Seeds of Love was a very mature album and while adding other elements could have made it better, they were already struggling with that album a lot so keeping it simple is what made it unique from their other albums. Also, Ian Stanley got a lot of credit for songs from the big chair. He wasn't there for most of the Seeds of Love and for the Hurting he didn't really contribute all that much. Also, Elemental and RATKOS were still pretty lively.

FYI, the studio engineer that you're referring to is Dave Bascombe, who was also Depeche Mode’s engineer and went on to later produce their 1987 album "Music For The Masses." He also took over producing TFF's "The Seeds of Love" album after the first sessions with Chris Hughes didn't work out to their expectations and were scrapped as a result. Roland had become such a perfectionist in the studio by that time that it ended up taking close to four years to record and release "The Seeds of Love" and cost Phonogram over a million pounds UK.

"MOTHER'S TALK" (Orzabal; Stanley) My features form with a change in the weather Weekend, we can work it out My features form with a change in the weather Weekend, we can work it out When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows, we can work it out It's not that you're not good enough It's just that we can make you better Given that you pay the price We can keep you young and tender Following the footsteps of a funeral pyre You were paid not to listen now your house is on fire Wake me up when things get started When everything starts to happen My features form with a change in the weather Weekend, we can work it out My features form with a change in the weather Weekend, we can work it out When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows, we can, only we can work it out Some of us are horrified Others never talk about it But when the weather starts to burn Then you'll know that you're in trouble Following the footsteps of a soldier girl It is time to put your clothes on and to face the world Don't you feel your luck is changing When everything starts to happen Put your head right next to my heart The beat of the drum is the fear of the dark My features form with a change in the weather Weekend, we can work it out My features form with a change in the weather But in the weekend never, there's a change in the weather We can work it out When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows, we can, only we can work it out

The mighty TEARS FOR FEARS - Mothers Talk. They recorded the track twice in 1984, not satisfied with the first recording they did. The second version was released in late July 1984, and was on Songs From The Big Chair. There were 2 promotional Video's made for it's release. Then in Spring 1986, TFF re-recorded Mothers talk for a US only release, and shot another vid, which is THIS HERE ONE. Confused ? You should be. This was the last video Ian and Manny appeared in. I had it on Vhs which I taped off of The Whistle Test, on BBC 2. I also remember the Corn laws being repealed and the horse less carriage coming in too ! !! 😮

I didn't notice what a great dancer Roland is until, well, extremely recently. His moves in Mad World are insanely good. Testament to the great vocals I reckon - TFF never did require any gimmicks, like the clothes or choreography so often relied upon.

Great band, great song and great memories. Saw them in the concert back in the 80s in Radio City Music Hall, NYC, and enjoyed their music and videos on MTV, when they actually used to show the music videos, not the BS that they show now. The music was good, better and the memories we built are so beautiful and this great music makes me so nostalgic for the times when things were so much better.

LYRICS It's not that you're not good enough It's just that we can make you better Given that you pay the price We can keep you young and tender Following the footsteps of a funeral pyre You were paid not to listen, now your house is on fire My features form with a change in the weather We can, we can work it out My features form with a change in the weather We can, we can work it out When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows, we can work it out It's not that you're not good enough It's just that we can make you better Given that you pay the price We can keep you young and tender Following the footsteps of a funeral pyre You were paid not to listen, now your house is on fire Wake me up when things get started When everything starts to happen My features form with a change in the weather We can, we can work it out My features form with a change in the weather We can, we can work it out When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows, we can, only we can work it out Some of us are horrified, others never talk about it But when the weather starts to burn Then you'll know that you're in trouble Following the footsteps of a soldier girl It is time to put your clothes on and to face the world Don't you feel your luck is changing? When everything starts to happen Put your head right next to my heart The beat of the drum is the fear of the dark My features form with a change in the weather We can, we can work it out My features form with a change in the weather We can, we can work it out When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows When the wind blows, when the mothers talk When the wind blows, we can, only we can work it out ☻️☻️☻️

This music is truly timeless. It still resonates with me today the way it did back in the 80’sand 90’s. In fact I just saw Roland and Curt, Tears For Fears, last night 6/25/22 in concert. They were absolutely great. The new music from Tripping Point is awesome and as great as the classics. I hope they continue to tour and visit us here in the USA.

The video is also inspired by the "Protect and Survive" civil Defence booklet that was on sale in Britain in the Eighties. Among the suggestions for surviving a nuclear attack were to whitewash your windows and make an inner refuge in your home using internal doors as a frame!
