@focusedonfuture3255 tbh I think that even in back in botw Link was fighting all those countless battles to save Zelda. My evidence is that in the Japanese version of the game, we get to see Link's "journal" in the form of the adventure log. In his entry after beating the quest "Captured memories", he explicitly states something along the lines of "I want to see her smile again withe these eyes of my own". It goes to show how much Link deeply cared for Zelda even in the first game. He might have been acting out of duty at first, but after retrieving his memories of the time he spent with her, he must have had a change of heart.

That's exactly what happened. Think about how many times if you even come close to 100% on the game he does this same jump. You have 2 or 3 times in the cave on the sky island, once off the sky island to Hyrule, 3 times for the labyrinths (one each), once for the 5th sage, at least twice for each time trial to get the glide armor and more that I'm sure I'm forgetting. Link has been practicing this jump all game, beating himself up over it. Also, the whole reason you don't have armor imo is that he had to know HE could do it. No magic, no items, no armor, he had to live down his failure on his own.

The Legend of Zelda's OG cycle started w/ a guy named Link makin' a promise to protect Hylia if she needed HIS protection. That was the beginnin' where it all started before Skyward Sword startin' the rest o' the story. The story before Skyward Sword's era was the REAL Genesis. Link who was Hylia's Knight in the green tunic w/ the green hat was the first hero in the green outfit (the only one who needed the red cape to complete the look), then Skyward Sword's Link had his green outfit many years later. Now the OG cycle ends w/ Breath o' the Wild/Tears o' the Kingdom's Link the Hero o' the Wild kilin' Ganondorf w/ the Master Sword (w/ Ganondorf in the Demon Dragon form), then savin' his Zelda's life again. This final catch after killin' Ganondorf's dragon form in Tears o' the Kingdom was the final culmination to ev'rythin' Hylia's Chosen Hero Link started w/ his selfless promise to his woman Hylia (and the country w/ her name). AND the start to a brand new saga. The OG saga started w/ the first guy named Link and his gal named Hylia (and the fight against Demise's oppressive terrorism). An' now, the OG saga ends w/ BotW/TotK Link protectin' his Zelda in the sky dive to the water AND the lovebirds survivin' the impact together. Maybe not the end to the whole series, but the definitive end to The Legend of Zelda's OG cycle and the beginnin' to the new cycle. Just like the Norse Ragnarok as the end to the Norse Viking pantheon AND the beginnin' to a new cyle. And the Saint John's Revelation as the last book in the Bible w/ the promise of a new beginnin' fer the whole Cosmos (a fresh start w/ no more wars, no more terrorism). Link in Hylia's Era was the very first Link 'cuz he came before the rest as the Alpha. Now Botw/TotK Link was the Omega to end the OG saga and the new ta start a new Legend of Zelda cycle. Like how Yeshua's the Alpha AND Omega to the whole story.
