I'm still discovering cool bass tones with my dp3x. There are way more tones available than a 20 minute demo can show you. The mix setting is capable of more than just bright, mid scooped tones. There are a lot of cool tones available with the drive control dialed down so it doesn't audibly distort, just fattens up the tone. And turning the mix function off opens up a second whole world of cool tones. I've had mine since last year and haven't fully explored all the available tones. I use a few favorites, but I keep finding more.

This has a nick in the finish in the exact same spot as mine does to the right of the mix button. Here I thought that was why I got a deal!

I have this. One pedal that does it all. The only problem is, there’s so many great sounds in here, now they need to come out with a programmable version.😊

I am ready for them to come out with a deluxe version with variable HPF and LPF, programming would be nice too.

I know during the time of this video, Tech 21 had a misprint in the manual for the Mid Shift button. Pressed in is the high mids, while in the up position is the low mids. Almost every early review of this pedal mistakenly explains this feature backwards including this one. No fault of anyone's, except Tech21 since they printed the manual wrong. I believe in current models and the PDF manual it is now printed correctly. Just FYI for anyone reading this in current times. I always keep the Shift button in the up position. I don't see where anyone would ever want that thing pressed in, but I know there's people out there that do it.

what do you think of this with the q strip....I was thinking the q for clean tone ..then the dp for another clean and one dirty.

Has anybody found a setting that sounds good with Mix on AND off? I have this pedal since it came out, but struggle here. When I have a good clean tone (Paul McCartney style for example), it gets to thin when switching on Mix. They should have added a button where you can deactivate the mid scoop that kicks in as soon as you activate Mix.
@F0dd3r264 жыл бұрын
I have mine in mix mode all the time. Try turning down the tone on your bass. It should clean up the signal quite nicely.
@Klaus808044 жыл бұрын
@@F0dd3r26 Thanks, yes I know this works, because the Chunk is in the high frequencies and this way they get not feed from the bass. But still I see no real use for the Mix button when using the DP-3X live.

As a guitar pedal it sounds great through an amp. If you're going for a DI solution. Sorry but I wouldn't recommend it.

Looking for help. Not getting anything near this sound. I am using Schecter Dug bass and a solid state amp. Any tips. It looks to be working fine. Tuner works, mix on off switch works, but the mix on or off doesn't really change tone and definitely no distortion.
@DanVeallBassist6 жыл бұрын
If the mix is engaged and you have the drive knob up even a little, then raising the chunk dial should allow you to dial in the sound. If it doesn't, you might have a faulty unit? To get distortion, you'll need to push the drive around to 3pm and higher, but watch the chunk level to balance it our when the pedal is disengaged. Good luck! Dan.

Can this run on phantom power through the xlr?

No it can't. Phantom power does not meet the current requirements for this pedal.

Should a player who only plays in one style (generic rock with a pick) really demo things like preamps? I mean, I'm not being a dick, but I now have no more idea of how this would sound in my rig than before I watched the vid, haha!
@IBJ573 жыл бұрын
It’s funny because I often feel the opposite. Bass gear is often demoed with very busy slap, tapping, finger style. When pick style often sounds much better in the context of a band and in a mix.
@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney3 жыл бұрын
@@IBJ57 Yeah, and busy slap/tap or fingerstyle alone is also a terrible way to demo bass gear. You need to do a little of everything if you’re going to demo gear. Or not, I guess, not everyone is trying to demo stuff for everyone. If you play pickstyle rock, this would be a very informative review video.
@Klaus808043 жыл бұрын
Yeah - and this pedal definitely is for rock style bass players, just have a look at all the sample settings, so to me it makes perfect sense that someone playing with a pick most of the time reviews it. If you are a finger/slap player, there are many other demos by players of that style, too. I am glad someone with a pick did this one.
@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney3 жыл бұрын
@@Klaus80804 Fair, but most bass players either don’t play with picks at all or play with more than one technique. When demoing gear, one should demonstrate a variety of tones/techniques/applications, otherwise it’s useful only to players that do just that one thing (an extreme minority). You don’t see guitar demos with guys just playing high gain metal shredding, and when you do, they suck and the whole internet is quick to let them know it.
