Hey terry one question is anyway that I can change the time to regular time instead of that military/European time. Thank you! Your people on the customer service man let me tell you Very Good and very knowledgeable. I thought I have to tell you that.

The Apex only works on a 24hr clock.

Neptune Systems ok I guess the salt cannot be change either for the 1025 for example? Thank you!
@NeptuneSystemsVideo7 жыл бұрын
No, salinity should actually be read in PSU (practical salinity units) which is usually shown as parts per thousand. This is what we show in the Apex. Specific gravity numbers in the saltwater hobby are simply a carryover from when that was the only way most people obtained a reading of the amount of salts in their system was by measuring the displacement with some sort of hydrometer. Ocean science uses PSU/ppt which, for most of the ocean, is 35ppt.

Wouldnt you first remove the old water and then add the new? This shows it removing right after you add??

If I want to do the normal 10% water change on my 400+100 gallon sump system what would be the best way of going about that? What is the max amount the Dos is able to remove in a day?
@derekkchung4 жыл бұрын
1:07 Tubing direction is WRONG. Both heads turn clockwise! You are Neptune. you don't make mistakes like this.

If I want to change 10 gallon a day, the pumps will run majority of the day. Isn't there a life for the pump tubing? Maybe 2 pmups would be cheaper and more fail safe. Test the volume and set the run time.

I dont understand why anyone would put this many cycles on such an expensive piece of equipment. Particularly when you consider the dilution factor which makes frequent small water changes of little or no benefit to the tank and its inhabitants. If you want to automate water changes, for a similar amount of money, you can do the same with FMM, Apex, 2 optical sensor and 2 small pumps such as the PMUP. For much less you can use a couple of Cobalt Power Heads with either floats, timers, or keep and eye on it once a week. The larger, less frequent water changes will be more cost effective and beneficial to your tank.

It doesn't make much sense to me that you would use a peristaltic pump for water changes... especially for larger aquaria. These pumps are designed for precision dosing of fluids in ml, not for voluminous amounts. Seems that it would be a cumbersome, heavy work load for a dosing pump and time consuming to get the job done. There's got to be a better way.... and your way seems more prudent, Ken.

Wouldn't doing 7, 1 gallon changes daily result in the same thing as 1 7 gallon change weekly? The pump is running for the same amount of time and you are removing the se amount of water of the same period of time

So who is using this for water changes who have large tanks, say 500 gallons?

the sound is unbearable for water changes. good for small/short dosing
