Exactly what I thought. We all know real pilots only move out in the servo horn and in on the controll surface horn

I'm not getting it... It looks like, in this video, the screw is pointed up (model inverted) at about a 45 deg, angle but this is not the case with my plane. The screw head on my X points straight towards the fuselage and not up as in this video.

Do modelers really need this simple of directions to figure out how to set up their planes? What's happening to our hobby? It's also unnecessary, it only takes a couple times adjusting the pushrod to get it set then you can pretty much forget it. Add the little bit of down elevator as specified in the manual and it's pretty darn close, one or two more fine adjustments after that and it's done. Moving it to the outside of the horn also pushes the pushrod against the inside of the opening in the fuselage increasing friction in the control system. My initial experience with this little Timber was not positive. Out of the box it (mine anyway) did not fly well at all in my opinion, at least not like the plane it is advertised to be. It's fine if all you want to do is 3D and hang it off the prop but if you want to fly it like an airplane it's not good at all. There is absolutely no STOL ability in my model as it comes, I own 10 other bush planes (including two of the 1.2m Timber-X), and have been flying over 40 years so I'm no novice. As it comes out of the box this is not a STOL plane at all, especially since you can't even cheat it with a harrier on landing approach because the wing rock gets bad as you pull up the nose and slow down. My solution was to move the CG forward and modify a set of slats from one of my UMX Turbo Timbers and mount them on this plane. Much better flying now, it can actually slow down without dropping a wing and only a small loss in it's 3D capabilities. I'm hoping Horizon starts supplying slats with it for those who don't want a plane that is only good at 3D (isn't actually all that good at that either). Of the UMX Timber series this is the worst one, I absolutely love the other two but this one is more frustrating than fun in stock condition. It's taken me a while but now after my modifications it's a much better plane. I have a video posted of it flying with the slats for anyone interested. Great power system, just don't waste your time trying it on 2 cell, it's a lazy dog on 2 cell. In the end I like the plane but as it came out of the box (after initial mechanical setup) I was disappointed and ready to stomp it to make it easier to take the power system out of it. I strongly advise anyone thinking about buying this plane to be sure you're up to it, SAFE will not save you on this one if you're a novice. This is for experienced pilots only and a novice would be much better off with the fantastic UMX Turbo Timber. Horizon, how about a UMX DRACO?
