A few years ago whilst living outside Cambridge UK, my neighbour who worked at Marshall’s (Cambridge Airport) was off duty when he got a call to help out by going to Stansted Airport (EGSS - STN) as the wrong Tug had been connected to a plane. He invited me to go with him, once there are cleared to go Airside we made our way to the aircraft. He had to drain the Hydraulics on the Tug to disconnect it. Those Tugs are interesting so this video was great as gave a great insight to other aspects like what all the Pins do. Thank You ✈️

Those Lektros are the way to go. With the Gulfstream the nose wheel will actually spin 360 degrees, you can tow from under the aircraft. This helps get the aircraft further in a corner or tighter in general. Helps stack hangars better.

exactly...It's alwas cool seeing the Lektro under the belly when moving it like that

That is a plus with the Lektros but with the strap on the NLG piston you can destroy the axle seal.
@Kelly-jc3jc3 жыл бұрын
@@bslaughter9441 I've been using Lektro Tugs for 25 years and have never had a MRO tell me we've damaged an axle seal, let alone the strut seal. In fact many MROs, airlines and flight departments use them, doubt they would if damage was narrowed down to it's use.

I don't know how I'd feel if I owned a multi-million-dollar jet, and had a nylon strap around the inner landing gear tube. One nick there, and it's oil leak city. I would imagine those are much more robust than a motorcycle fork, but it looks to be the same principle. I wouldn't like that sitting there, even though the weight of the aircraft is still on the wheels on the tug's platform there. But, they do that every day, so it's probably not a big deal. Heck, if I could afford the jet, what would I care if I had to rebuild the front landing gear suspension? Peanuts! 🤣 I sure would love to be heading to Barbados right about now! In the 40's up here in MA ... and only getting worse as the week goes on. Saying possible snow Thursday night into Friday morning!! 🤢 Enjoy the visit - I know I would! 😊 Thanks for sharing, Shaun, and have fun on the island! 👍🍻

I've done the open door tow thing before, but it's a pain to me, so I usually just close the door. We keep the X cable in the door compartment, but seldom gets used.

When you park on a ramp, do you set the parking brake or rely just on the chocks? If you set the parking brake and the FBO later needs to move the plane, are they allowed to enter the plane on their own and release the brake, or are you required to be involved?
@CorporatePilotLife5 жыл бұрын
We generally set the parking brake until the chocks are in, then release the brakes. Should we accidentally leave the brakes set when we leave and they need to move it, they are not allowed into the plane without the pilots.
