Gamecircle is safe to freeze as well "IF" you do NOT game on your firestick. I personally do not have a console & custom gaming rig for gaming . I'll post some other processes that have been deemed safe in the XDA forum. I personally did not freeze news or Amazon as I'm a prime member and freezing apks will remove the icon from your apps list just be warned if you use IMDb or prime a lot it's kind of a bummer to have to icebox to watch it by unfreezing BUT still beneficial when using other apks as IMDb/prime are resource heavy apks. Again great job TDUK much better straight forward method..Good to have you back. Again I'll look for more system services that aren't vital to functionality this way we dont have to choose between our streaming services , as you pointed out there are so many system services there is another 8 with a as quick search I see that can be disabled . A bit repetitive but good to have you back TDUK

Hiya Doc! I watched the video last night and successfully completed it on the first of our 3 Fire Sticks today! Thank you SO MUCH for this excellent tutorial! I had previously tried the other (Termux) method, with moderate success. This technique is much better, IMO. I also froze the game app. I look forward to future freezing, after you've tested which other apps can safely be included. I found it easier to use my phone's app, to modify the command. This method works well on my 4k firestick , but I tried on my 3rd gen pendant and the point were it should show mantis instead shows needle , is this the sticking point ? On the 4k can you remove the control apps ,just leaving icebox once you finish the process ?

I have only tested this on FireOS 6 devices (4K firestick) What does the pendant run ?. I recommend leaving both shizuku and icebox on there once finished, otherwise you wont be able to make any changes (if you need to)

not seeing any recent discussion on this tutorial. Am having problems (random crash of remote control) with my Fire Stick 4k, and just decided to reverse all the modifications (still using the USB memory). My stick 4k has the Echo speakers running remote in theater mode, and I do use PRIME music and movies. Just be careful and observant, and be ready to reverse everything so you can have a functioning stick. Problem with modifications is that it can be a tower of cards, that will fall with one card (mod) done; with any one modification requiring you to go back to factory default, which would be painful to reinstall and set up multiple apps again.

I have the same problem on a 2nd gen FireStick with FireOs 5.8. Did you manage to solve this problem by running ABD? In my case I ran it from a cell phone with the BugJaeger application, because on the FireStick the ABD Remote application hangs waiting for an acceptance from ABD that it never shows on the screen but I suppose that the acceptance is behind it but for some reason it does not show.

Very good question . Just like cleaners for example alot of this stuff is placebo affect HOWEVER, I left a list of 24 process to shutdown in this thread if you get the dev tools app you compare yourself the before and after . In this case this is the exception. It actually works well I've noticed a real world difference and my 4k is very snappy no more buffering and I have a great network but with everyone on the Internet right now servers are getting pounded, back nm to this I would NOT use the 1 tap method in the next video he did it's a garbage apk and the actual api for that SDK I'd not meant for firesticks but for phones so it will say you have 400+ my of memory free then you confirm using the proper tool and only have 130mb so that one is garbage the icebox method actually works . He got this directly from XDA developers I would highly recommend subbing to that forum for all sorts of great mods , hacks etc rather than wait for tubers to bbn out it out I personal use a different platform for my channel as the youtube guidelines & algorithms dont play nice with me and my methods . Excuse the ling answer but yes you will notice a difference however it will always fluctuate. Good luck!

if you are running remote adb on the actual fire tv then you can use 127.0.0.1 , if you are connecting from another device (like from a cell phone / tablet) then you need to enter in the actual IP of your fire tv

Excellent video! I feel comfortable freezing known Amazon bloat, but system files is a little risky. Your tutorial removed any anxiety. I’m curious if you were able to calculate system resources you were able to capture both before and after the procedure. Off the top of my head I can think of one application, Kodi with an Ezzer-Macs build, which could calculate this for me. Ezzer-Macs has a a maintenance section, which shows memory used, free and total system memory. I’m running this on a 2nd Gen Cube. I’m wandering if this freezing procedure will work on the Cube? I usually experiment on my 4K stick first before messing with my Cube. Thx. Dan

Hey Dan, my 4k firestick would always have around 200mb free after a reboot. After freezing the apps, this went up to around 430mb. You can read the steps here bit.ly/3apBSzT

However and its ok I never got it to copy and paste...I was able to copy and paste but never could get the mouse to return to a cursor and delete adb shell...but no biggie because I just typed in the command on the keyboard while in ADB shell...Also had to back out to shizuku do the proper selection and then into icebox...It took me so freakin many times before I typed in the correct command in ADB shell I did not see the sh(space)/sdcard/...I kept missing the dang space...Other than that all is well now...I picked up more free space I have ...I have frozen 12 items and they show frozen on SD Maid as well so now I have I have a total of 34 apk's and tools and I have 3.52 free space...so the combination of freezin apps and extending the memory this is soooo great.

If anyone saw the follow up on my comments I listed more system services that can be stopped safely HOWEVER, if you head over to XDA devs there is a full list and there is a script being worked on to freeze all bloatware in one shot. Good job tduk.

I've made a Adb command that runs a script to automatically & safely disable system services rather than waiting for XDA or other devs if anyone cares to test . I would NOT use this on your main device if you have a back up 4k or old 2nd gen firestick, I would suggest using that NOT your daily driver. If there are any issues you can always hard reboot (hold play & enter/circle ) and it will disable and defrost services, & you can manually revert any settings that are problematic or just remove it entirely. I just need more feedback. You wont brick your device in anyway. This will work with shizuku & icebox or termux.Ive been running it on my 32gb partitioned 4k firestick for about a hour now with zero issue its blazing fast, no overheating with plenty of memory but that's only MY outcome. I could use testers as I said . I am setting up a link to post here shortly for a tutorial or I can give you my telegram or discord handle. Thanks for the help.Ty to tduk (not trying to spam your page this is a useful method when I saw it on XDA and there are so many unneeded services running, just pure bloatware ) My skillset is in everything tech & cybersec however this was a fun project but I'd like to see it work for everyone & know its stable. I did not get time to set up a link for the and script however here is a helpful list of system services that are bloatware and not needed on a firestick as it's not a phone. These can be disabled safely with icebox and free up some great memory .I've noticed great results.24 total. 1-Alexa shopping 2-Amazon Freetime 3-Amazon metrics service application 4-Amazon music 5-Amazon photos 6-Amazon recess 7-Amazon.jackson19 8-Application compatibility enforcer 9-Arcus Android client 10-Auto timezone service 11-Basic daydreams 12-BuullerDeviceService 13-com.Amazon.client.metrics.api 14-com.sndroid.wallpaperbackup 15-com.androidwallpapercropper 16-Contacts storage 17-Content Management Service 18-Device Controls Application 19-gamecircle 20-KFTV Legal Notices 21-Log Manager 22-Mayday 23-Print Spooler 24-OOBE I can assure with my years in everything tech & cybersec I am lucky to have a wide skillset Im proud of , this firestick stuff is pretty straightforward. These are completely safe to freeze and being everyone has a different setup you can always revert if you happen to have any issues which is highly unlikely. .I have gained a drastic boost in performance, although I would not go to far past this list as you will really getting down to the bare bones and services you need to keep for functionality and still have a nice experience. Hello, I would just like to revisit this with everyone as I would feel a tad responsible if I didn't make others aware of this. Obviously when tinkering with system files and things of this nature there are pros & cons/ risks , while this method has been working with no issues and I provided a safe list to disable - A: it's a bit of a hassle to unfreeze your frozen app list with the amount of daily updates for the 4K stick which can be up to 3-5 updates a day for me personally & more importantly B: after testing this more thorough YES it does work and you are getting results by freezing services however the Amazon firestick ecosystem was meant to run a particular way , it's not like jailbreaking iPhones or rooting androids it's a tad different , you do run the risk of the stick running hotter , the battery draining faster and the cpu/gpu will have more strain or load on it potentially wearing its life down faster. I have stopped using this method after more tests as of 4/7/20. Detailed results always on my discord or telegram or forum under PPsrker.This lil device is impressive with its 1.5 GB of DDR4 RAM, 8GB internal storage which can be expanded, and a 1.7 GHz quad-core CPU, and Technologies PowerVR GE8300 GPU. I've been tinkering with it and revisiting it since it came out as well as the 2nd gen stick. They run almost identical and just wanted to make people aware of the cons of this. It's s great hack but with consequences. If anyone like this stuff , I would suggest following XDA developers this method came from them. I do my own testing after to get definitive results and then we have good guys like TDUK actually making you aware of the fun stuff to try on your stick! Stay safe everyone!

My shizuku doesn't start automatically after I pasted the adb command into remote adb shell, however when I manually open the shizuku app ice box is in the authorized apps and I switch it to authorize. Will it still work that way or there is a problem?

TechDoctorUK when you freeze screensaver it doesn’t come on anymore because if I’m watching tv show or a movie on Kodi it sleeps and it sometimes shuts the stick off all together it’s done this a few times which is quite annoying the other question I would like to know is I’ve noticed that my internal storage is filling up but I’ve got my 1tb external storage done mixed 50 with remote atb so what is filling up internal storage because the APKs are running from the external drive.

I know the screensaver is a resource hog...I was in fact able to freeze it but before that what I did is went to Display and Sound went to screen saver go down to "start time" by default its 5 minutes just click that and change to "never" it will still use some resource but a lot less hope that helps a lil. I know for sure it's frozen because now when I go to display and sounds ...click screen saver and nothing happens...You can also check periodically to see what is frozen by going to SD Maid click app control scan and it will tell you the number apps that are frozen and the number of apps running.

Once you are in adbshell and proceed to make a connection to the device it states connecting to 192.168.1.26 (my device internal IP) you may need to accept a prompt etc but you cant go any further and no prompts either. My machine is a 64 bit fire tv box 👍

I messed up trying to follow your video and screwed up my 4k firestick. I tried doing a factory reset and it won't let me. Do you know how to do a hard factory reset? I think I screwed things up when I froze the applications. I deleted downloaded, and I can't even install that again. I have tried disconnecting it from power, removing my external ogt cable rebooting and going into settings. I tried again to do a factory reset and it does nothing. Please HELP. Thank you,

Hal, I’ll take a stab at it. I assume you tried to do a factory reset through Settings/My Fire TV and then Reset. I’m assuming you still had this functionality. A short cut to do a factory reset is by manipulating your remote control keys. Hold down the“Back Button” simultaneously while pressing and holding the right side of the “Big Controller Button.” Be patient you may have to hold for 10 seconds. A factory reset window will appear. Hopefully this will work for you. Good luck and stay safe! Dan

@@wardward9398 Honestly I haven't been able to get the entire thing to work. I jumped the gun on my previous reply. But you can remote adb to second generation devices. In order to use remote adb for 2nd generation devices you need to run it from your phone and use the IP address of your fire stick. The issue that I'm currently facing is the Ice box app not showing up in the authorized applications list after starting the service.

Off topic I can run real racing 3 on the FireStick even though this app requires the google play services but it still works maybe you can find a way to run apps like this one.I just click on ok when the message pops up this app requires google services to run I just click ok and keep playing as it runs perfect on the FireStick 4K
