We made a huge fuss about Scarlett Johansson's voice as the AI in Her, being allegedly used for Sky's AI voice, but most of us never realized that the original Siri voice, one of the most iconic and widely used virtual assistants, was done by Susan Bennett - and she didn’t even know her voice was going to be used.
@Portal64Ай бұрын
For voice acting that is surprisingly more often than you’d think practice. Especially if they’re wanting a big surprise. For Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild none of the voice actors were told what the voice acting was for and discovered when they finally hit a line like Link, Zelda and Hyrule. Being the first ever Zelda voice acted game Nintendo wanted that secret air tight. And I imagine that was also the purpose with Apple and Susan Bennet. Just that there’s no dialogue that would scream “omg I’m a Apple product” cause who would come to that conclusion

100% agree. My newest car right now is a 2009 and best it's got is Satellite radio. Basically 2 requirements since I'm sure I will make it into the 2010's eventually: #1 I can disable external communications without compromising the functionality with no physical requirement of external communications (GPS works even if it can't phone home to GM to ask if there's an update or to share my position) #2 the car can function permanently and in perpetuity without any onboard external communications To what degree #1 is still satisfied if it requires unplugging something or recoding/replacing a module with a dummy one will depend on how cool the car is and how difficult that operation is. If there was a simple way to turn off externally-initiated command communications that I felt comfortable would ACTUALLY remain perpetually off with no built-in backdoors or telemetry countdowns, I'd probably be fine with it. Not like I'm not renting a car because of this - I own a cell phone. But the lack of multiple hardened protection layers wrt vehicle tracking means it's different proposition. Joe at Ford didn't do his job today or better yet Joe at Ford did his job until he was replaced with a guy on the other side of the world and now nobody is managing new exploits. I've only started to get exposure to VIN-coded and paired parts that the OEM could theoretically force a software update on first. But there's non-insane workarounds for that at least until more recent model years.
@braixeninfection6312Ай бұрын
My latest anymore is early 2000's. Currently driving a 2002 Tundra. Lovely truck! No traction control, no ABS, no BS! I changed the radio out for a CarPlay radio and it's all been perfect! It's so refreshing to drive a car that doesn't try to control me. My 2015 Jeep Wrangler loved doing that and I hated it so much. The amount of times I staled out in snow or on a dirt hill was crazy for being a manual. All because traction control didn't like the tires spinning and thus cut my engine power. Yea cause that's what you do for a manual. Without the ABS fuses I was able to drive that Jeep through 18" of snow. I know it can but the computer decides not to. So frustrating!

Thank Elon Musk for that ,for literally gifting all the IP and manufacturing knowledge to China, in exchange for cheap manufacturing. Elon is a smooch on society.

@@TheRealDuckofDeath You can't just blame Elon for that. All boomers have been shipping off everything that wasn't nailed down to China completely screwing the west. It's not like they didn't have Apple devices to copy from, etc.

@@TheRealDuckofDeath That's not true at all. Nobody gifted any IP to anyone. And Chinese used their own IP to make their cars. Do you really think other countries can't build electric cars on their own? You know that we get our most cutting edge chips from Taiwan, right?
