There's no need to miss someone who openly supported killing of thousands in Ukraine, including innocent sports people among them, no matter how good a skier he is.

I think that the wide elbows allow the poles to be planted more vertically and closer to the body. This might allow the skier to use more body mass, core and momentum to generate force rather than rely only on muscles. However, I think that it can be very taxing for the upper back and rotator cuff muscles if done without proper conditioning. It might also create more emphasis on "pushing back" rather than "reaching forward". With my basic level of knowledge in physics I would assume that the force that is produced at or behind the center of gravity is pushing you forward, and force that is produced in front is not as beneficial. This can be seen in runners and gait mechanics As in for the heel lift, I think that it is beneficial in sprinting or in surges to do it actively. However, when the distance is longer and movement economy is more important, it should come naturally or not at all. In longer distances the heel lift should be the result of driving arms forward and straightening your body, not something that you pursue.

question to the author: today there was a men's ski relay and only Ermil Vokuev ran doublepolling out of all the athletes and was the best at his stage, his technique in my opinion is better at long distances than Bolshunov's, Bolshunov is more powerful at shorter distances, who do you think it will be better, I would also like to mention Martin Sundby - he is also a phenomenal athlete with perfect technique. And I kindly ask you to make a video about Ermil, if possible. Thank you.

Bro, the video of the straight leg classics guy is using skate poles. The reason FIS skiers bend their knees is because their classic poles have to be 83% and they still want to stretch their shoulder joint without having to drop their torso too far. FIS skiers would double pole with straighter legs tomorrow if they eliminated the requirments

Well done! Knocking knees is a mistake I think. It doesn't provide any useful work and slightly turn over pressure at the ski. But there is anatomical aspects too

looking at some good points but...1. body position. stable. slightly bend legs. upper body and hips over feet with nuetral head. push off, high hands hip forward, standing tall. Knees bend to plant poles utilizing body weight, arms bent at elbow engages core and drive elbows back before straightening arms. 2. glide on heels lifts front of skis. 3. Weight transfer forward to balls of feet thrusts the center of mass over and beyond the balls of the feet to create forward motion and raising the heels off the ski. Add power, speed, tempo and you have Bolshunov and Klaebo. Ukraine should never have joined NATO and attacked ethnic Russian Ukrainians and we'd be watching Bolshunov today. USA attacked multiple countries over decades and was never banned from competition. double standard?
