It’s a shame that politics is keeping the Russian male cross country skiers away from the World Cup. They’re greatly missed. The last two years it’s been much too much Norway, and it’s destroying the sport. When every male World Cup competition is more or less like the Norwegian championships the rest of the world loses interest.

It's a shame that it's keeping the Russian female skiers out of the world cup as well. Nepryaeva was the top female skiers in the 2021/2022 season, having won the overall world cup, tour de ski, 3 medals at the Olympics (including gold in the relay) and came so close to beating Johaug in the 10km classic in Lahti, a week after the Olympics. There are a ton of good, talented young skiers right now. Stepanova, Faleeva, Baranova, Krupitskaya, Peklecova (only 18, but has gotten on the podium in the senior races a number of times this season), Nikitina (another 18 year old), plus the 'old guard' Nepryaeva, Stupak, Sorina, etc. If FIS is smart, they'll try to get the Russians back to the world cup next season.

Большунов сейчас в отличной форме, желаю, чтоб он как можно дольше сохранил такую форму. Где Сан Саныч принимает участие, борьба интересная, захватывающая и напряжённая. Так держать. Завистники не любят его, но противопоставить ничего не могут, остаётся признавать, что он - лучший и сильнейший. Он единственный заставлял бегать норвежцев толпой за собой и побеждал. Любой тренер в мире не может не мечтать о таком спортсмене в своей команде, они снимают шляпы перед ним. Но Большунов только наш, Россия гордится Сан Санычем!

Позволю полкопеечки вставить. Сан Саныч молодчина, с этим не спорю, но некоторые СМИ могут так его выставлять, что как будто нет борьбы в лыжах, а она в каждой гонке. Я понимаю, что его преимущество над остальными спортсменами достигается очень трудно, но...его сильно выпячивают в СМИ, и это дает негативный тон, к нему вопросов нет. Это в последствии может сыграть плохую роль. Но!!! Он не зазнается, и это хорошо! По его высказываниям трезво оценивает силы своих соперников, и это тоже хорошо.Развивает свой бренд, тоже хорошо, если кто пользовался скажите, как качество бренда Большунов?

Bolshunov is the greatest long distance skier of the last three/four years and keeping him and the other four five Russian great skiers from competing is detrimental to cross-country skiing, a sport that is already losing ground to other winter sports like Biathlon. But it is not only pollitics to blame. COOP Norway, the biggest sponsor of the World Cup does not want Russian skiers. Prize money (although peanuts compared to other sports) is important and how much of that would go into Russian pockets instead of Norwegian ones??
