Hi Dave. Im think that Im a fuddy. duddy too in that I think biking should be an escape from the modern world. Keep your bike simple and tech to an absolute minimum ..... it should be a link to the old days ..... man and machine, basic maintenance, wind and the elements, navigating by roadsigns, no music, taking some joy in getting lost, stopping frequently to drink tea and to admire the view. As for 'modern society' dont get me started (the same goes for Chinese bikes too if I'm honest). Ride safe.

You beat me to all those points. Yes, I concur. Just come back from a run on my vintage BSA. The only hi tech is a mirror!

Spot on with the youngsters today , things have definitely changed for the worse. Mobile phones piss me off the most with kids and adults wondering around gawping at the bloody things !. Go in a restaurant and young and old transfixed to their phones, why ?. Cant even have a conversation with others because of this, grrrrr..Wish I could buy a jammer .

Our German Shepherd is just the same with rabbits, she also used to chase seagulls all over Ainsdale beach but as she's got older she's given up on that particular game.

I struggle in the car when the traffic is heavy and lots of junctions are approaching especially when the missus is with me - between the high tech satnav talking to me and her indoors, overload approaches rapidly to criticality!😂 On the bike I’m much happier with my own thoughts and a clear TFT - no music, no texts, nobody shouting in my ear. With the amount of tech stuff on bikes to distract you now, I’m surprised more people don’t crash. It drives me nuts and I don’t get on the bike to be overload like in the car.

Morning Dave, that was a windy episode. For my penneth I reckon our familiarity with technology has resulted in a more intolerant society. We expect everything instantly and when that isn’t the case we lose patience. Hence expecting everything instantly we rush about resulting in road rage, shopping rage etc. we need to take a lesson from our European neighbours and slow down. Likewise our kids are all too busy shooting up baddies on their computers and don’t realise the value of life. I’d better get off before it turns into a rant 🤣🤣. I did the 2 weeks HGV course which had a whole day a coach, absolutely loved it but failed the actual test 🤣🤣. I think you can get to drive a bus on these experience days , you can certainly do HGV ones. Check them out.

Bikes laden with electronics are only storing up problems for the future, although I prefer bikes without all the tech I do think ABS is worthwhile but the brakes still don’t have the feel of older bikes without it.

I remember a video you made about the classic 350 and the V7 and how on the 350 you just enjoyed the ride whereas on the V7 you found yourself fiddling too much with the technology on it. It rang so true with me and I ended buying a Bullet 350 to compliment my V7. I actually enjoy the Bullet 350 the most.

Technology wonderful when it works. A lot of this stuff is black magic to me and when you ask about it people look at you as if you are mad. I always carry a map they don’t go wrong!

So, what exactly did the 130 quid gizmo actually do for you on this ride? I'm mystified..... but then again, I cannot see why one might use a phone and its hunger for expensive data and a power source and signal on a bike .....plus this device......over a TomTom or Garmin , which you can pre-programme with your chosen route. Looks like a nice bike though.

The less tech & gadgets on a bike the more practical I find it. The choice of new bikes I would want to purchase , is getting less as manufactures are pandering more & more to tech nerds, in an effort to impress tech nerds . Used bikes without all the tech gubbins are going to be the only bikes available for riders like me , who just want a normal bike with normal controls & no gadgets .

What on earth!!!! It's mind boggling, the most technology I want on a bike is the the electronic ignition.

Honesty in modern business? That's a novel and optimistic request, Dave! You'll be asking for honest government next... 🤣 Here in Oz, bus companies prefer more senior drivers and are very happy to train them. Reason being that older drivers are more reliabe, considerate and careful. Due to changed circumstance I started driving buses at age 62, after I'd taken early retirement and I quite enjoyed doing it.

Well the advent of the interweb has really had a profound effect on all tears of society without doubt for good and for ill ,I have become a technophobe over time purely because I have just been left behind so I only get involved with it on a strictly need to basis . CF Moto has produced a winner from what I can see and it looks pretty damned good I also note the they are a main name sponsor of a Moto 2 team that our own Jake Dixon currently rides with , this got me thinking that they sell bikes at very reasonable prices and can still make profit and so a maker invested in motorcycle sport as well as producing good value bikes it don't get better than that .😉👌👍

Unless you work for a company which has the labour managing standards of a western company in 1900. I bet you value your human rights, freedom of speech, freedom from discrimination etc so why buy anything imported from a country where these basic rights are not given any consideration under the dictatorial government

I bought a 'simple bike' to ride again after a few years of not riding. I like the idea of remote tyre pressure monitors and that rear facing video camera-very useful. I am no videographer but some of those who are very good at video have given the 'Da Vinci Resolve' video editor a big thumbs up . May be of some use?
