In a perfect world no one rides in shorts. We are reminded every day the world is imperfect.

@TCF2148 I wouldn't worry about them taking off you paint, unless you painted your tank yourself. You could always try the old tried and trusted hairdryer/heatgun to help you get them off.

I actually tried skate board tape before Stomp and TechSpec. I destroyed a race suit in a very short period of time.

@fennell85 Personally I would not ride in shorts nor do I. Unfortunately this is a question we have been asked multiple times.

@moistmaster I hope they're not on for good!! I put some on 2 days ago and don't like where I put them. I don't mind buying another set and destroying the old ones, but I also don't want to peel paint when removing them. Thoughts?

Only thing I don't like about the stomp grips is that they DO wear your leathers... The insides of my knee area on my leathers are all worn from the stomp grips. The techspecs look nicer but don't provide enough grip to me via the track... Especially locking my leg into the tank... Just some food for thought. I wish Techspec would do a little more to their snakeskins to make them a little more grippy..When it's wet out or raining at track day and they get wet my lets tend to slide.

If you want a cheap DIY alternative that doesnt ruin your leathers, cut and glue some rubber foam in place. Works perfect, and if you cut it nicely and dont spill glue around it looks really good!

Which one will stand up better to high temps? 35-37 degrees C. My Stompgrip glue softened and flew off

I have used this and TechSpec in those temps and never had an issue. Make sure to prep the surface by properly cleaning and give it time to cure before you ride (24 hours or so). - Van

I have the stomp pads on my 06 GSXR 600 and they destroyed my Bull-it riding pants on the inseams granted I ride alot

IMHO for the track I'd go with the Stomp Grip, you have a much better grip/feel through your leathers. For those that ride the street "In shorts :-0" I'd go with the Tech Spec. Brian is right with the StompGrip though, take your time putting it on, because once it's on....it's on for good.

If you need to reinstall the TechSpecs use 3M transfer adhesive. You can find it on Ebay and it works PERFECT. Just make sure to get all the old adhesive off first. Mine are years old and I just repainted my bike last winter. Reusing the old adhesive was NOT an option. Too much crap around the edges. Just get a small length of the 3M Transfer adhesive and you're good to go!

Good to hear. Bc I want to paint my bike, but buying new grips & a pad is something I was thinking I had to buy again lol

Just what I was looking for! You mention the center piece and I saw your install with the lower pieces below the tank. Are those overkill or will the stomp grip on both sides be enough?

Take a look at the Techspec "The Lock" which is a universal shape. Here is a link to it on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/techspec-the-lock/ - Brian Van

A few of my friends have tried skateboard tape too and it riped their pants also as I mentioned. But I think I found the cure yesterday at Home Depot when I was looking for some over sized pipe wrenches - Tool Box Rubber Rolls. That stuff you line tools boxes with so your tools don't rattle around is actually pretty cheap and pretty sticky at least on my pants. On the plus side, squids can still wear shorts too. I'm going to "de-wax" the sides of my tank and tape it up with 3M double sided. :)

For $50 a pair, what else is there? Compared to skateboard tape at $4-$10 stomp grip is expensive. Has anyone looked at either skateboard tape or surf board traction pads or dirt bike pads, etc? I heard skateboard tape rips up your pants, but I'm just curious on other options. $50 is an obvious ripoff, unless there really are no good alternatives.

And if you DO ride in shorts, maybe you can use these products to cover up the scars on your legs after the crash. Not good.
