Teck Tip: Easily Clean Diesel Injector Cups

A quick teck tip for cleaning the deposits out of the injector cups on a diesel engine when installing new fuel injectors. Most shops will have all of the required items to do this on hand and it could save a lot of time, and help to ensure a good seal when you put the new injectors in.

What would you do if the seal was leaking and it was way dirtier. How to avoid having liquid black stuff on the piston ?

Won't there be danger of knocking dirt and crud down into the engine through the hole? I've got a little teeny VW 1.6L engine that I've had the injectors rebuilt on, and there's all kinds of crap down in there. I'm really nervous about cleaning them out, as I really don't want to knock all that dirt and crap down in there.

You can use a shop vac to suck it up. For getting in really tight spaces you can duct tape a piece of 3/8” brake line in to the end of the shop vac hose.
