I went to school for ag service technician but after 4 years of not working on a single diesel motor my 06 f250 had injector failure in cylinders 1,2,3. This guy just with this video alone saved me nearly 3,000 dollars in labor costs alone from taking it somewhere else. I had pretty much every last tool except the long torx bits but other than that I was able to do it all on my own in a couple of days. Wish there was a video for the driver side as well though.

Just finished this job. This video was a tremendous help. Going to add my own tip here. The clearance on those rocker cover bolts just ended up being too close. I had to have another solution. I found that if I remove the 6 or 8 screws holding the A/C box cover on, that I had much more room to access those pesky fasteners I was really after. Now putting the cover back on is a little tricky, but its flexible plastic and it will eventually wiggle in. As for how the truck runs, I think I might need a new VIN number!

READ THIS COMMENT FOR STANDPIPES DUMMY PLUGS: I was a little confused when he started talking about these. If you have the 2003-early 04 model 6.0 you do not have dummy plugs and your stand pipes are completely different than the ones he is talking about. You will need a 18mm socket to remove the early style standpipes. However there is no need to remove these for preventative maintenance, unless they are the culprit to your problem. I learned this the hard way. They will bend on you due to torque when removing and you will need to replace them. This confusion is costing me another week without my work truck waiting on the correct parts. Other than that this video is fantastic!

Great video! Only hiccup I had was my torx bit fell out of the injector bolt and went right down the oil drain hole in the head. After a couple hours, I successfully fished it out with an inspection camera with a magnet attached to it. It fell about 10" down the drain hole. Next time I'll be sure to stick the end of a long piece of hose into the hole to prevent that from happening. Everything else you said was spot on!
@markw3655 жыл бұрын
For your T40 or T45, you do not want too long of a bit. Snap on makes one S6340E that is slightly over 3", while a "long T40" is usually about 4" and will interfere with the evaporator box on #5 and #7. Also VIM makes a stubby Torx set which is great for the T30 hold down bolts on the passenger side.

After watching a oil change video i ended up putting too much oil in my 6.0. the guy was using just under 4 gallons of oil, he kept mentioning get 4 jugs and use most of it but he didn't use motocraft jugs like i did. apparently motorcraft jugs are 1.25 gallons so just 3 of them are exactly 15 quarts which was was needed (face palm) anyways now i have rough idle and it shakes around 50 mph sometimes but if i goto 60 mph - 70 mph is drives smoothly. also has rough start. so i assume me adding too much oil(i had redone the the oil to the right amount after discovering and driving a bit on it) is what affected my injectors.
