I got a line running from the carburetor to somewhere like under the manifold that’s busted. Any idea what that’s for?

Most hardware stores will sell tubing by the foot. Buy some that will fit and that should hopefully fix it.

there's a breather tube that comes off the manifold to bottom of air filter housing is that the one you are talking about.

Knew idle was to low to start. Governor keeps the throttle wide open when not running it adjust once started to the control of said Governor.

I have a very similar generator but it has an 11HP engine that looks very close to this. The problem I have with it is when you are trying to start it the rope pulls back so hard it about rips your shoulder out and hurts like hell. Anyone know why it would do this?

Timing or a valve issue. Could have a large clearance on the exhaust valve or somehow the flywheel key is sheered and causing issues.

Exhaust has a compression release the valve clearance is out of spec.

You need to get it up to 3600 rpm or 60 hz to dial it in and this is best accomplished while running under no load. Did you set the static governor setting first.

3200 is 60 hertz bring it up to 61.7 to 62.3 no load on these old girls.

Carb has a jetting issue, 1800 watts engine was falling on it face, you'll find most aftermarket carbs from China are jetted undersized but also a float level adjustment.

I have one the gas cap vent was the problem wouldn't let gas get to the carb

I take the gas cap off and fuel goes right to it and crank

In order to achieve 60 Hz under load, you have to adjust the governor while it is under load. Get it to the correct settings and then take the load off and adjust the idle screw with no load.

No absolutely not ! You set the hrz at no load to appox 60/62 3200/3400 rpm

I hate these hm100s...I have the exact generator, got it for free..would only start on starter fluid...put a NEW tecumseh carb and still can't get it to atart..tons of CR, spark lol I hate these things

If you have a compression tester maybe see what it says. The design of the intake I think also has a lot to do with it
