I smoked 1-3 packs of cigarettes daily for 12 years and was an alcoholic... Every time I tried to quit smoking, drinking would bring me back... Every time I tried to quit drinking, smoking would bring me back... I knew I wasn’t able to quit both, but I desperately needed to, as my habits were not only taking up my time and money, they were killing me... Two years ago, someone dosed me with a very very high dosage of liquid LSD (10 hits+/-) against my knowledge and will... I’d never taken LSD before and was terrified... Something wonderful happened during my 17+ hour trip... The next day, I no longer wanted to drink... I no longer NEEDED to drink... Not needing alcohol allowed me to eventually quit smoking, and I’m happy to say that I’m over 1 year cigarette-free...

Wow. I have done acid once and it was a great experience. I remember the initial euphoria that came on with the trip and how liberating it all felt like I could finally let go of the unecessary baggage I was carrying but Soo enough my shame and fear all came knocking down on me after the sheath of my narcissistic self image fell to the ground from then onward I had extreme anxiety which I generally suffer with, as trip proceeded I was extremely terrified grossly confused and perplexed and thought my boyfriend was God and I was living in his world and I also had strong hallucinations that completely left me in a non-functional state. But still I would say the positive effects it laid out for me seemed to be extremely helpful or rather I say a lot of positives in my behavior I believe are a consequence to that trip. But yes I would definitely like to expunge the benefits of acid wholly and for that I need some kind of guidance of advice so I can reap the positives out of it completely. It would be really amazing if I could have some guidance on how to actually relax and enjoy and utilize the psychedelic opportunity.

Yeah, drugs really aren't "bad" by themselves. But if misused like any drugs, they can wreak havoc on a person's mind and body, and of course communities suffering from too much poverty. The key is education and making sure the parameters are set for people to take these substances in safe settings at doses they can handle. :)

This needs to be approved immediately. As someone who has been a sort of guide for many different people during their experiences, I really wish that some of my friends could do this in a true clinical setting. Even without training, I've been able to help people improve their lives by guiding them through hard experiences; I can only imagine how much more profound the effects would be with trained professionals. I've got a friend with PTSD; he was in Iraq and then was shot in the US after coming home from his deployment. He's gone through many different traditional psychotherapy sessions with minimal results. Right now he medicates with Marijuana and is basically stoned 24/7 because he can't cope with the fear. He had some psychological issues prior his PTSD and I am sure that he would benefit from these types of therapies. Also, my uncle was recently murdered in front of my aunt. She would also benefit hugely from this type of therapy. Too many people are suffering to worry about whether or not they choose to put a plant or chemical in their body. The priorities of our society need to be amended to help these individuals.

@@onlyparadise7715 amazing in one sense and pretty stupid in another. Too often our society outlaws something because it's inconvenient to the narrative of some politician or party. May I ask what your method is while being a guide? This aspect of psychedelics has also intruiged me and id love to have the opportunity to have a guide one day.
@draakisback4 жыл бұрын
@@bayleymacintosh5622 its hard to explain since it depends on a ton of factors; type of medicine, what type of experience they want to have, whether or not the environment is safe etc. I've had so much experience with this kind of thing and I think that is the most important component. And because of the nature of these chemicals, you kind of have to be really flexible since a recreational experience can turn into a therapeutic one and visa-versa. In some instances, you just need to be there just in case something happens and in other instances, you want to keep your distance. Its really all about showing compassion and also playing therapist when the need calls for it. Learning how to ground someone who is having a panic attack and learning how to sift through different difficult topics, that kind of thing. You also have to consider the medicine since some chemicals like DMT are extremely introspective to a point where you can't intervene much once the experience starts.

I've always found the mystical claims around hallucinogens to be specious. I'm absolutely certain that they describe a subjective experience that those who claim them had. I have no reason to pooh-pooh those experiences. However, there's sometimes an unwillingness to consider that those experiences might, in fact, be conditioned responses when there's been an entire culture built up around psychedelics for decades. Within a certain range of physical, biological and perceptual responses to a substance, i strongly suspect the brain finds a way to process and react to the temporary changes in neurochemistry that's probably very informed by your expectations and the language you have at your fingertips to explain what you are experiencing. Ultimately all psychedelic experience must be neurochemical. The kind of claim that irks me most are those that most resemble religion or spiritual experiences. See for example "aliens" and "ego-death" in DMT or Ayahuasca trip reports. (I have tried psilocybin, salvia, MDMA and ketamine in my younger years. I would again in the right circumstances but want the science to develop more.)

It gives me apprechiation for what i have in my life and i just want to see a sunset or sunrise, so i can be the happiest person on earth. And you want to share this good feeling it provides you with every person you know. Its very sad, unnecessary and utterly stupid that strangers i do not know, can forbid me to have such experience. How is this possible in a free society? Makes no sense. We need to change this! I wish more people could feel these feelings i had and see the world with a new and fresh view. I'm really interested in a future where psychedelics are legal and we educate people about the proper and safe use of these substances. I'm not saying psychedelics will solve every problem or that there won't be any new ones to deal with, but I do believe we can become a lot more insightful and loving towards each other.

An interesting take as someone who was schizoaffective during my heavy psychedelic usage, I think it's honestly possible to use large psychedelic doses to bring you to a place where you could rewire your brain. My mind-chatter would go away for months at a time. I also, in my journey, had this feeling of wanting to be able to fully control the psychedelic trip and I ultimately did, finding out that you can use this to boost your acuity, expand both your fluid and crystalized intelligence very dramatically, and also have an easier time making yourself feel a certain way like how placebo, hypochondria, and energy healing do

I have severe PTSD after the military and MDMA saved my life. I had a friend I took it with once every other weekend and talked with them while using it. I haven't taken it for 3 years now but would like to find an actual doctor that knows how to pinpoint the root of the cause for my PTSD. I still have extreme fear but the anger is gone. Love your work and I would love to find a doc like this to work with!

7-8 years ago, psychedelics saved my life from a GUARANTEED trainwreck disaster. I've nearly died 4 times, 2 being intentional. I'm 6 years sober from my former drug of choice in 2022 january :) and still holding love, empathy, and respect in my heart. I keep commenting this, i know lol. Some people might even recognize me by now 🤣 But.. words just can't express how immensely thankful i am to that experience. There's so much untapped potential in them. Especially Miss MD, because it creates such a unique group atmosphere of true willingness to understand everything and everyone. A genuine love for the external world, unity, understanding, and empathy. Where everyone shares everything bothering them, and genuinely wants to listen ane help others. Just imagine it with an experienced psychotherapist..

I am so incredibly grateful for Rick Doblin and others work in this field of psychedelics, to potentially help so many suffering human beings. The world desperately needs this. I just wanted to give my honor to all the researchers who are ready to throw themselves into this rather uphill battle. I can imagine - all too well - just how disheartening it must be sometimes to stand against all of the scare-propaganda and misinformation that has been accumulating during the last 70 years or so. Anyway - as someone who has been battling severe depression for almost 20 years now...I'm very excited about all of the positive results that this field is starting to uncover. Thank you all!

My occasional use of psychodelics in the early 70 opened me up to a later experience of a spontaneous drug free pure nirvana that lasted for two months. It changed my perception forever. My heart is bursting...what a gift to humanity he is! I am convinced that most of us who saw and felt the love experienced through psychedelics are linked. This connection is stronger than any external structure forced on us. Maybe that is why psychedelics and peaceful marijuana are (still) so combatted against by those who are stuck in the shoots and ladders game of our pyramidal structures. Their mind is divorced from the heart.

I have to say that psilocybin and LSD are completely unique substances. I, as a clinical psychologist, never interested in Yoga in my life until the event I took huge dose of psilocybin. During the trip I somehow "remembered" how to perform Yoga. The first time in my life I performed Yoga for over an hour in a park while under the effect of psilocybin. This miracle happened 5 months ago but also I had so hard time comprehending what's going on really. After a long consideration I started to upload on KZbin (I am still very amateur but whenever I take psychedelics I am able to remember more and more from my past life. )

@Gareth Sheals I don't believe there is such a thing as a bad trip. A bad trip is usually you having to face things that have subconciousally been bothering you. I would say 90% of people benefit from it but there are a select few who can't take it. Start at 3.5 grams of pscilocybe cubensis(dry, 35 grams fresh) and work your way up to 6 grams. I love 6 grams in my room with no sound or light laying in bed naked lol in a half dream state. Start at the recommended dose and do it in a comfortable place with good friends the first time.

I'm afraid it is not. Forming other sorts of societies or changing the way a lot of people have to live today could probably be of some help, but drugs will not become any sorta answer in a greater scale. There are databases online to find out about current clinical studies in all medical fields including psychiatry. They always include location and volunteering information. Some can only be enrolled in through specific doctors if you are an established patient with them. (Often true for cancer and terminal illnesses) This probably isn't often the case with outpatient psychiatry, however. Even so, you would want your current psychiatrist to be willing to work with the clinical trial. Be aware that it is very possible that clinical trials are not happening in your area. Psychedelic therapy is still in the research phase (not drug approval phase) with possible the exception of ketamine for treatment -resistant depression. That means there aren't as many MDs involved and study groups tend to be smaller.

Why on Earth are they pushing opioids and antidepressants that don't help, but I can't find help using psychedelics, even here in Colorado where it's legal? Another way to experience this without psychedelic, well assume that you an outdoor person, is climb the top of the mountain before sunrise. Then watch that sunrise while drink some tea. I promise that you get the same effect. The issue is that our brain think too much, by release the stress through physical workout, and then relax it through good warm tea and the awesomeness of something out of your control will provide a person with the same clarity. Well using psychedelic work great only if you have some expert help you which is not an issue, but if you similar to me who is both outdoor and don't want administer drug, I don't like anything that change my brain chemical, then that something I recommend. However, Rick Doblin is doing great work, and I do hope that more Rick out there who care about human mental health.

As a fan of both of these activities, I think you're wrong. The experiences, while similar in producting oxytocin, dopamine etc, are not the same, and no, you don't need an expert to have psychedelics work "great". Is it preferable your first time? Sure. But not after and I've known plenty of people who disappeared up a mountain with some shrooms and found exactly what they were looking for alone.

Psychedelics can be so beneficial when used correctly. If everyone came to this realization, we could change the world for the better. The world could use a lot more love, psychedelics can show us that. They do show us this. Dissolution of your ego and barriers is the key. To making the world a better place. If you don’t know what I mean by this, do yourself, and ultimately everyone you love and everyone you don’t a favor and try some psychedelics. Psychedelics can teach you to be a better person.
