"We are living in a world that is tantalizingly close to ensuring that no one need die of hunger or malaria or diarrhea," says economist Michael Green. To help spur progress, back in 2015 the United Nations drew up a set of 17 goals around important factors like health, education and equality. In this data-packed talk, Green shares his analysis on the steps each country has (or hasn't) made toward these Sustainable Development Goals -- and offers new ideas on what needs to change so we can achieve them.

This could mean that the lowest prices in any country would be the standard in all countries. This could mean that many drug prices in North American would be < 1% of current prices, making Medicare more comprehensive and affordable. @@trekkaz7955 of course not; the fact that they state it as their goal but take no action for improvement should make anyone look into the matter further and when you do you’ll see that even tho they claim to, it’s not ACTUALLY their goal. Brazil, in the past few years, has essentially experienced a non-military coup. The ex-president has been thrown in jail. Massive protests have been occurring. An extreme right-wing government beholden to corporate interests has installed itself. Massive portions of the Amazon rainforest that were previously not under threat are now in danger of exploitation (the new president has expressed that natives living there have no rights to the land). These things are not of interest/reported on by regular media. For more, see: "Brazil’s Right Wing Jailed Ex-President Lula Because They Couldn’t Win at the Polls" www.democracynow.org/2018/4/9/glenn_greenwald_brazils_right_wing_jailed , "Glenn Greenwald on Election of Bolsonaro: Democratic Values & Human Rights Are At Risk in Brazil" www.democracynow.org/2018/10/29/glenn_greenwald_on_election_of_bolsonaro , "As Bolsonaro Threatens to Criminalize Protests, a New Resistance Movement Is Emerging in Brazil" www.democracynow.org/2018/10/31/as_bolsonaro_threatens_to_criminalize_protests

CIVID-19 response Goal number 12: The current crisis is an opportunity for a profound, systemic shift to a more sustainable economy that works for both people and the planet. The emergence of COVID-19 has underscored the relationship between people and nature and revealed the fundamental tenets of the trade-off we consistently face: humans have unlimited needs, but the planet has limited capacity to satisfy them. We must try to understand and appreciate the limits to which humans can push nature, before the impact is negative. Those limits must be reflected in our consumption and production patterns. COVID-19 can be a catalyst for social change. We must build back better and transition our production and consumption patterns towards more sustainable practices.

Back in 2015 when he gave the same talk M Green stated that we were about 61 on the social progress index. And indicated that if we raise GDP average globally from 14000 usd to 23k usd we would see SPI rise to just 62.4. Well, we did not raise gdp and yet we got to 69 on the SPI. He also said we would not hit 80 odd by 2030. But we went up nearly 10 base points in 3 years. How?

Globally (together) we should mainly concentrate on ensuring the first one- basic human needs. The second and third should be the responsibility of each country to achieve, with each country deciding whomever they which to cooperate with to achieve those goal. Especially the third as it's kind of subjective and potentially dangerous if that power is given to a global organisation. Countries shouldn't be bullied by other countries who've accused them of not being "inclusive enough".

1:24 I’d say focus on the first six extensively first. The more people who are better off and more educated, the better solutions we can have going forward with the rest of the goals. 🌎 Edit: also I would say that this is more of a wish list as oppose to a goal setting list. We should’ve had at most 10 if not again focus on the first 6. Edit: also we should have property rights for all people. So everyone can have the opportunity wherever they live to own and invest in real estate. Of course China communist party wouldn’t want that, but screw them and there human rights abuses Edit: Correction all these people want with there goals is absolute control of individuals with there great reset. These people need to be stopped.
