Good to have a homeowner learn a few things to prevent other companies taking advantage of them. But NOT in this case got one of the best companies out there doing quality work.

Holy blown charge Batman! 😱 I’ve experienced copper lines rubbing through but not that large of a hole. Mr Homeowner was very lucky he had a low pressure switch. I do like that fence they have in back even if it’s not real stone it still looks sharp. Always enjoy your new videos Ted.

I don't think it rubbed through, looks more like it arced through.

I learned enough from watching Anti videos to install a Rheem evaporator and new Goodman condenser. It worked all summer long so I guess I did it right. 5:30 A Coolray tech tried to charge me $3,000 to weld up a small hole a few moths ago. He then told me he would fix it under the table for $1,300.

The same thing happened to my Carrier. Vibration rubbed off the insulation, shorting on the pipe and blowing a hole in it. They could put in about $1 more worth of wire and run it around the edge of the unit, rather than drap it over the copper pipe. They wanted $800 to fill it after the warranty fix. I said, no carrier should pay for the charge, since it was a manufacturer's defect warranty fix. I was told Carrier wouldn't pay for the freon. WTF?

I just repaired a larger package unit, Johnson controls unit 4 years old. The wire rubbed and took out the line. $2500 in refrigerant. The best part is last spring a screw on the same unit rubbed through a different line. I hope it isn't a yearly thing. As the tech, I am the punching bag of the customer...

Good video. Im curious how that wire was repaired. Is a bit of electrical tape sufficient?
@--harry_
@--harry_ Жыл бұрын
I don't think so. I have seen electrical tape and wire nuts also. They are not long lasting. The electrical tape looses grip overtime in the elements like that and falls off. I cut the connector off the wire and slip heat shrink wrap on it but I have seen other techs use liquid electrical tape. I have a bunch of colors and sizes of the heat shrink so most people won't even notice the repair.

I hate pulling a vacuum through low loss fittings. At least you know it wasn't open to atmosphere long and all the gas is out of the oil being at 0 for a day or two 🤣🤣🤣🤣

When I watch a video like this, I can’t help but want to audit it for better clarity if needed. The sound is very low and hard to discern. Anytime you have a helicopter yackety-yacking, please ask them to speak up for the recording or else STFU… can you imagine somebody hovering over the mechanic that is working on their car? They would be ran off with a stick if necessary. Technical imbeciles are the worst. Got to be nice I guess. I’ve heard some guys say that they just quit working when being asked questions by a helicopter. And then return to work when disengaged. Repeat as necessary. Extra cost should be incurred.

@HienLe-qh6mo

There is no drop-in replacement for R-22. Conversion to R-410a requires upgrading of both condenser and evaporator for a much higher operating pressure. The required retrofit may cost as much as a new system. I currently have a 27-year old, 2.5 ton Carrier and would like to extend its life as long as I can with R-22.
