I am a massive Tyson fan. But one thing he never talks about is Kevin Rooney. You won't find any mention of him post prison. We must never forget, if it wasn't for Rooney, there would be no Tyson. Really sad how one of the all time trainers never got his props.

@D'amato Shift Well, Tyson talks about him pretty often these days and has nothing but nice things to say.
@pancraseash90024 жыл бұрын
@D'amato Shift they made Mike put alot into him he was always supposed to stay with them. Trainers do not get enough i say this as a fightee 90% of the work they do is for the love, they should get paid when they produce someyhing like mike, who with due respect would of been just another statistic if not for Cus and his crew.
@goldenox23704 жыл бұрын
I am think you have been misled here. By the the time Kevin started training him, Tyson was already Tyson.
@magnusthorin60624 жыл бұрын
@D'amato Shift In his book "Iron ambition" he has a bit about him. That he was sad that he lost Kevin. That he never fired him. That Kevin just didn't show up after Tyson sued Cayton. Tyson felt they were brothers etc. There's also an article from Washington post (try google Mike tyson on Kevin Rooney) I think where Tyson said if he had stayed with Kevin he'd still be champion to day :) I have acutally never head Tyson talk bad about Kevin. Not even when he sued Tyson.

It would have been awesome to see Kevin Rooney as a guest on this show and Hotboxin with Tyson, one of the most underrated trainers.

Mike Tyson talking man to man with Kevin Rooney would be something epic. If you think Mike was crying during his interview with Sugar Ray Leonard imagine him sitting down with Kevin Rooney it would be like a therapy session considering their history and the bullshit they went threw over Don King.

Of all the people Mike owes an apology to. It's Rooney. He was like a Father to Mike.

@@peterthegreat100 You're right. Just imagine all the stories and knowledge they could share with us from the good old days. Kevin is such an underrated trainer. Too bad he never left Catskills, he could have trained so many world champions if he moved to Vegas.
@alcottdevalte74404 жыл бұрын
@@LordDirus007 The only man who was like a father to Tyson was Cus d'Mato. But Kevin was like a brother to him. Too bad he sued Tyson for around 49 millions once Tyson wanted to get out of contract with Bill Cayton and Jim Jacobs after the Spinks fight in 88. It would be great if they made amends now and forgave each other...
@LordDirus0074 жыл бұрын
@@alcottdevalte7440 It was 4 Million and Rooney was well worth that. Considering the sheer amount of Mike Tyson's networth at the time of the Lawsuit. If Mike Listened to Rooney Mike would have not married Robin Givens and Don King would have fucked off.

4:08 He mentions Tyson Fury vs Otto Wallin as if the boxing committee rigged the game in favor of Tyson! Look how Tyson Fury fought in the rest of those rounds and how he ended that fight! It wasn't like they are doing him a favor by not stopping the fight! Also, you can't compare him to Kevin Rooney! Tyson was both the former unified champion of the world and the lineal champion of the world at that time! It was not an amateur fight! Don't forget this! A fighter at the level of Tyson Fury knows if he can continue or not; and they asked him if he can continue, to which he replied yes!
