@@AyubuKK yeah . I mean it depends , people did believe in gods that's for sure .. but not exactly in the legends. There were a ton of skeptics . I mean not much with Hercules but where were skeptics. A lot of myth especially the myth about how the world and the gods were created had several different adaptations , the most well known ones being written in kinda story myth books and were seen as mostly only legends but there were some people to believe them of course. There wasn't one big book with all the history and all the myths .. so because people made up their own idea of gods a lot of skeptics appeared

Nakul Haridas Well, another reason is that it emphasizes Isis’ domain over magic. According to Kemetic myth, all things, from the grain to the stars, have a nature, and thus, a name that conveys their nature, and Isis is revered as chief patron of magic because she, foremost, understands all of their natures, hence she commands them via names.

All y’all talking about how Egyptian mythology is so wholesome are forgetting the one where Ra literally MASSACRED one third of all humans on Earth because they called him old
@Sybil_Windhill
@Sybil_Windhill 4 жыл бұрын
well... Ra was an older generation (alongside Shu, Tefnut (his children), Geb and Nut (his grandchildren)) than Isis, Osiris and so on, older gods mean they aren't so close to humans as the younger ones, they don't understand humans, so they act like we are ants. It's a bit the same with Greek mythos, Zeus and the lot were very human (but a bit in the mean side of our nature), but Zeus' dad was a titan, something so strange from gods and humans that gods just waged war with them in order for the whole world to exist as we know it.
@kennethhwang3425

Through an incredibly convoluted evolution of myths and folklore, the seven scorpions later come to be known as Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Donder, Comet, and Blitzen... but that is a tale for another time

Wow! I watched TED-Ed's "A day in the life of an ancient Egyptian doctor - Elizabeth Cox" video earlier today and was very confused at the scorpion sting part, where the doctor begins treatment by reciting a spell. Now I understand why the doctor did that :)

People forget that mythology is incredibly symbolic. It was evening she would go out, and each scorpion served a role; also they were created with magic so nobody likely noticed they were there. There are also many variations of Egyptian myth. The most historical don't seem to mention their size, and the baby often isn't with her. Horus is being cared for by other gods and human women, etc. She is searching for her husbands body.

I love how much effort is put into these videos, people have to animate and draw, and people have to read the script which they do so well. They also have to hire experts and occasionally free lance writers like Alex Gendler. Also in videos where the gods or deities' names are hard to pronounce they try so hard.

I live in the NW desert of the US and when my little scorpion friends sneak in, I take them carefully, with a butterfly catcher, and put them outside in the garden. And they quickly run under the rock and say “thank you, kind lady”.

Another fun story about Isis. When Set killed Osiris (her husband) he cut him into pieces and scattered him all over the lands of Egypt. Isis found every part and put him together again and he came back to life. Every part except for one, I'll let you figure that out on your own. Good video.
