I'd be interested to learn if there's a psychological aspect of hunger as well. I have food based PTSD and food insecurity, so I tend to unconsciously suppress minor signals of hunger until my blood sugar is lowered and I'm ravenous, and it feels like it's harder to stay full even with an otherwise filling meal.

you can feel the food entering in your stomach and moving through your intestines. Sometimes you will hear gurgling in your stomach when you eat. As you eat more your stomach expands and maybe you start to slow down with your eating and feel a little bit sleepy. At least that's how it is for me. Also the food starts to taste slightly different as you reach satiation. What once tasted amazing just tastes more ordinary or even not so good when you are full.
@puppyeyes3253 жыл бұрын
Japan has a term called, “Hara Hachi Bu”, meaning, “Eat until you are 8 parts (out of 10) full, or 80% full.”. It took me a while to understand when my body is 80% full, but the trick is this. As soon as you are done with your first serving of the meal, this includes desserts and drinks, (not a supersize meal, just a regular size meal you would receive at a casual restaurant), check... 1. If you can move around comfortably, twist your body side to side. 2. You are feeling some slight fullness but not too full that you can’t do number 1. 3. You don't have the hunger strike anymore. That's how I determine if I’m 80% full, and it has helped me control my weight ever since along with intermittent fasting.
