My sister and brother in law got 400k out of their 1998 LC before selling it last summer. They also live in the sierras and to say it wasn’t babied is an understatement. The motor was still Lexus smooth, super impressive. Original exhaust system. Food for thought, our Durango SRT can get 20+ on the highway if you keep it below 80. Does the Durango feel like it could do 400k? Maybe but can’t imagine what type of maintenance it would need to get there.

I think the amount of tech in this is perfect. Kinda small well integrated screen for some of the deeper stuff and like radio, but a ton of buttons and dials for everything else. Feels like early 2010s, which I've found to be my favorite era for interiors because of that. Not so archaic to be hard to use in modern day, but still all the buttons and dials you'd want.

What's missing in the Yank version is the 4.5 liter turbo diesel V8 you get in other markets, like Australia. In a place that has more speed cameras than kangaroos, all you need is enough get up and go to keep up, and the diesel version does that admirably. It also works well on the minesite.
@emixmim

Hmm... I just realized in the US you only got the 5.7 liter V8. In Europe we never got that engine, we only got a 4.6 V8 gasoline and 4.5 V8 diesel. The 5.7 must be nicer than what we got.

That cruise control stalk is literally the same stalk from 89 Cressidas and 90 LS400s. Hell, even the turn signal and wiper stalks are the same. If it aint broke, don't fix it. Love it. Luxury today is about how much crap can you stuff in a vehicle where luxury in the past was all about build quality, simplicity and elegance. Just look at old W126 mercs, Lincolnshire, caddys and even Bentley and Rolls. How times have changed.

It's not just Toyota's V8s that are indestructible, it's basically their whole engine line-up since the 1990s! My dad had an old Toyota hatchback which had covered over 300000 miles when we sold it and emigrated (it was then 28 years old) and it was still running really well, despite a cambelt failure years before. The only thing that will stop a Toyota is a direct hit from an ICBM.

I drive a 14 year old Tacoma. Its been in the shop twice for recalls...not failures. Id happily pay $90k for the LC if I could afford it. Most of the modern amenities are distractions anyways. My wife new car is a pain to drive because of the 13 inch screen. This will far exceed 400k which is proven by the thousands of early nineties land cruisers on the road.

Have a tundra with the same v8 but 6 speed. Im not sure about the LC's gear ratios, but the tundra is 4.30. We used to tow 8000-8500 lb camper through the mountains with no trouble. When towing, it was not the power that was the issue, but the payload of the truck. Though this could have been fixed with helper springs or airbags. It really was not bad though and it is a great truck
