Shelene Bryan explores the borders of Status Quo. How becoming uncomfortable can be a start to new innovations. Her message: Don't worry that you might fail. Worry that you might succeed at something that doesn't matter.
The lens through which Shelene Bryan sees the world changed dramatically after she decided to travel to Africa to see if the children she and her family were sponsoring were for real. After that trip to Africa, Shelene gave up her Hollywood career and started Skip1.org. . Shelene believes Skip1.org is not about one person making a big donation. It's about lots of people making small ones, something they can easily skip, and help change the world instead.
About TEDx.
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos -- or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos -- sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.

Truly truuuuly inspired by her words. Never ever take the things in your life for granted. For you who are able to even open youtube is a blessing. Thank you again for changing the way how I live my life. Much love from Indonesia :)

My question is why does this incredible video have only 469 views???!!! It should be at least 469,000! We all need to get out of our comfort zone!

As one who has been on 2 short-term mission trips, I can tell any skeptic that money is not all that helps these folks in need. Our physical presence and encouragement means the world to the people that we also send money to on a regular basis. They absolutely need HER.

I love you for helping that homeless lady on Steve Harvey, today. I am a homeless American currently after being a nurse for 30 years. It's not right, but I am alive. I write poetry too. Here's one about the people you advocate for: poetrypoem.com/cgi-bin/index.pl?poemnumber=950539&sitename=heartunes&password=&poemoffset=0&displaypoem=t&item=poetry Thank you for helping those without hope. It's so awesome.

You are so wrong...the trip proved to her she was making a real difference and she used it as a catalyst to continue..and the benefit of seeing her is apparent on the childrens faces...she is perfect...and the others she has enlisted because of the trip was immeasurable...how do you find fault with that.. You seem to me like the baseball fan in the cheap seats eating hotdogs and drinking beer telling the team how to get the job done...

Great message and admirable sentiment, but all I could think about was how much the money she's spending on airline tickets so SHE can have an experience would help the kids and communities she's experiencing. They don't need HER there, they need her MONEY there. She's doing a good thing, but she could do more by writing a bigger check.

You are dead wrong. How do you feel about this 11 years later. I personally know the girl she is talking about and I can truly testify that her being coming around changed her life. And now she’s a terrific young lady doing amazing things.
