Alex Grey on creativity: "Every creative act empowers every other creative act. The painter channels the creative force into the artifact and this artifact then becomes a battery ready to zap a viewer into a new way of seeing the world." Alex Grey is my favorite artist. I would not be where I am today without his inspiration. Art evolves consciousness. Consciousness evolves beliefs. Beliefs create culture. Culture constructs civilization. In my most spiritual experiences I have come into contact with my Self and God (which are the same) and I try to communicate these experiences with my art. I feel this is the most important duty of the artist - To synthesize your experiences into a cohesive creation and inspire others to believe that anything is possible.

I love that he's able to reach out to a crowd that doesn't see themselves as "sophisticated artsy types" and take them seriously. Someone complained here about the audience but in truth this is who he's trying to reach. He wants to reach everyday people with what he believes to be an important message and he knows they can grasp the things he wants to relate. If not for the common person then who is art for? without the common man art has no value.

*WOW*. holy shit...I'm honestly kind of in shock right now. I just paused the video at *15:53*. About 4 years ago, I had the most awe-inspiring, poignant, mysterious, meaningful experience of my entire life. I had taken 5 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. About 1 hour into the experience, with eyes closed, I saw *_THIS_* same exact image...but in full 3D(it seemed to go into infinity). I'm not even kidding. I saw the *_exact_* same scene. Yet, this is the first time I've ever seen Alex's painting. I didn't even _know_ of Alex until yesterday. I'm seriously in shock. Did he and I see the same thing?? He said that painting was inspired by an Ayahuasca vision. I don't even know _what_ to think right now......

It's amazing that he was able to explain each painting with so few words. I've been to his church CoSM in the Hudson Valley, and it is indeed a trippy place with a mushroom cafe (unfortunately it does not sell mushroom) to boot. Lastly, I love this idea that artists must bear witness to the transcendent and show the world what they see.

Laffing is a coping mechanism. Much as when a dog is being beaten to death, it may grimace, often seen as if smiling, and wag it's tail. Horrible, but true. It depends on our background and how we are able to survive thru unbelievable pain and suffering. Children who are abused may use this skill to appease their tormentor. It is learned behavior on both parties. When someone laffs inappropriately, use compassion.

Perhaps they have experienced depression and are releasing the tension of their own challenges through laughter. Why do people laugh at clowns when they fall down or get a pie in the face? Fantastic to hear Alex speak of the evolution and meaning of his art. I have been a fan for a long time. I also have a story to share: My grandmother was very psychically tuned. She also loved Alex Gray's work. I gifted her a signed Alex Gray print she that she kept on her living room wall. It's Theolo(?) seen at 14:17. My grandmother was into yoga, meditation and could astral project. So was a fitting piece for her. After her death the house had burned down. Everything in the house ruined, the print charred and melted plastic (from the frame we bought for it). But Alex's signature (w/ triangle and third eye symbol) was left untouched. I took it as a sign from her that things would be OK. Later we learned through a psychic medium that she burned the house down 'herself' to help the family move on (not to lament over material things). Anyways, thank you Alex for sharing your gifts and your message. Was beautiful to see how 'Theolo' fit in the evolution of your work. And you are right. It's time to heal the planet. To do that I think we need to help one another heal first.

Our lives are each an expression of art, known or not, we paint and weave shared images, sadly, mostly bitter, lonely, lost souls. Alex is a modern prophet transcending our blind, corrupt, deconstructionist illusion of reality. Hard for myopic rationalist to swallow, but Love is the foundation of everything.

Thank You, as an inspired massage therapist your artistic style gave me knowledge from a recognizable reference, from with in myself, to see all people as more than a body. Your detailed first hand realizations in this TED are deeply appreciated now more than ever.

Paganism ! Rituals from Masons and the enlightened ones aka the Illuminati. They will tell you that Lucifer means the holder of the light because he used to hold a light . So be careful ! God is not a concept . God is Himself just as sure as he made you yourself and not a concept . God Consciousness as he uses it is the Idea of Knowing everything ..... When you and I both know in our heart of hearts that we weren't ment to know everything . Now God Consciousness in terms of God always being on the fore front of your mind and consciousness while making decisions is Good . Well thankyou for reading anyway . I know people have their beliefs not trying to change yours but I will tell you what I know .... Love and Respect Peace and God Bless ~1~

Relax folks. They're not laughing at him, they're laughing with him, appreciating him. It felt to me that a good number of the audience truly appreciated him, his and his wife’s art and work, and their message.

This powerful quote is from the end of the video, spread it to help art evolve our consciousness! "Art is an echo of the creative force that birthed the galaxies. Creativity is the way that the cosmos evolves and communicates with itself. The great uplifting of humanity, beyond its self destruction, is the redemptive mission of art." - Alex Grey (Visionary Artist)

I am so grateful for these transcendent beings who aspire to attain the cosmic soul. I hope one day I can meet these radiant Grey's and everyone else who aligns with their nature. Namaste

Always loved Alex Grey. At a festival I watched him paint live. In the beginning, I was thinking the piece didn't look like much. I was tripping for most of the night and went back a few hours later. The piece was swimming and breathing and alive. You may think this was the acid but I can assure you I am not in any way prone to visual hallucinations on the drug beyond perhaps feeling/noticing auras or something like them. I left the evening convinced Alex is some sort of modern wizard. Viewing his art is some sort of alchemy if you take the time.
