Are you well organised in one aspect of your life and completely chaotic in others? Like knowing when someone moves one of your books even one milimiter and being annoyed with that, meanwhile not remembering where you left the TV remote control or your jacket?
In this TEDx talk Dr. Khurram Sadiq takes us in the world of people who have both ASD and ADHD and what it feels like to be living with the two. As he himself has both, he says
“ASD and ADHD can co-exist together”
This is the end of people’s journey seeking answers why order and anarchy are living in the same person’s body and mind. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the Order, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the Anarchy, #ASD is Khurram’s perseverance, #ADHD is his fuel. If you find out that you have both ASD and ADHD, remind yourself that you have something very special that others don’t, which gives you a unique identity - #neurodiversity . Own it, cherish it, embrace it and learn how to harness its power.
Dr Khurram Sadiq is a Lead ADHD Consultant Psychiatrist in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. He is a Public Speaker, Blogger, Vlogger and a Leadership coach.

I knew I was neurodivergent, self-diagnosed, and this is a revelation. The first minute or two of this video had me crying out loud. Watching this video I feel seen and understood in a way that I’ve never experienced before. Thank you for the work you do, and the people you help.

What we always fail to take into account is the manifestation of these two conditions co-existing , the patient experience , the confusion, the misdiagnosis and mismanagement Patient experience and the narrative is the most important aspect , which has never been taken into account… my mission is to highlight that …

Also here via The Guardian. I was lead to understand that ASC and ADHD were mutually exclusive so this has been a real eye-opener and will be an invaluable perspective to ansorb and pass on.

Indeed, a very informative talk. Explains a lot of things. Also the ending was perfect, "Consistently inconsistent is also consistent".....

wow! the order and anarchy - the ASD and ADHD. It must be very difficult to have both but it sounds like a great relief for many to find out they are not alone on this journey! I love the 'cherish it and embrace it' for the neurodiversity. Im sharing it with friends who never had the assessment for both and have been struggling for years

'Eyes can't see what the mind does not know .' Thank you for this teaching and the guidance to show this . And the concept that they co exist together summing its strength lies in this title 'Order and Anarchy ' .Your talk throws light into how important it is for us to acknowledge it to understand and help.

5 Ted Talks and you are still yet to disappoint, you manage to always keep everyone interested with your unique ideas and informative facts. I loved your constant use of oxymorons throughout your talk like “Order and Anarchy”, “ organised and disorganised”, “consistently inconsistent” and more! Your talks give both information and hope to those either in the neurodevelopmental field or those who struggle with ASD OR ADHD. You really are changing lives one talk at a time!

The symbiosis of ASD and ADHD is a relationship many would not believe exists and would require a thorough understanding of the human neuropsychology. To explain this coexistence of order and anarchy in such a straightforward, comprehensive and entertaining manner truly shows the extensive theoretical knowledge you possess in this field and providing real life examples as personal as your father amplifies your practical experiences attained in the years leading to this point. Well done!

Thank you for sharing your message of hope for people like us to reach a clearer and more compassionate self acceptance.. We must see, know, love and accept ourselves first and foremost, not feel like crippled, exiled beggars for understanding from others.. We must gather up and nurture our strengths and self respect. ❤

This is so interesting I have dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia. I also show many signs of both adhd and autism my dad was just reading an article and this guy name was mentioned and we discussed it. I have had two autism assessments both came back as I'm not autistic but I don't know if the NHS or many health care systems around the world are equipped to identify some people it's so difficult it would help if there were more neurodivergents in these systems. I have met many people who I gravitate towards more and I feel like they are neurodivergent as well it's so interesting and endlessly fascinating.

I love this Talk. It's inspiring, moving and enlightening. The concept of the balance between conflict and symbiosis that you weave throughout it brings clarity and understanding to what can be an exhausting mindset and way of being. Thank you for making a difference - I shall be sharing your Talk with many people who struggle to make sense of their experience and who I think will benefit from your expertise, compassion and information.
