“Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" were the words delivered by Patrick Henry during his impassioned speech at the 1775 Virginia Convention in seeking independence for his home state. Now, nearly 250 years later, Claire Wineland, an impassioned cystic fibrosis patient and inspirational KZbin personality and founder of a (501)c3 charitable foundation, Claire's Place Foundation (that assists families living with CF), whose desire to see terminally ill patients live life to their fullest, puts her own spin on that famous phrase with “Give Me Dignity of Give Me Death”. Claire shares her message of hope and her daily struggle of prioritizing happiness over health.
Claire Wineland has been living with cystic fibrosis her entire life. At the age of 13 she founded Claire’s Place Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF). Now 20 years old Claire’s unique inspirational model for people living with this disease has led her to be a TEDx Speaker and receive multiple awards including being named one of Seventeen Magazine’s “17 Power Teens” of 2016, Fox Teen Choice Awards 2015, the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, and winner of Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Small Nonprofit of the Year” among others. She has been featured on CNN, Inside Edition, The Dr. Oz Show, Huffington Post, ABC News, Cosmopolitan, People, Ladies’ Home Journal and more. Claire’s Place Foundation is a way for Claire to give back with hope, strength, and joy and make meaning of what she has had to go through. For more information and make a donation, please visit www.clairesplacefoundation.org.

“MOST of us” Oh, please. How can YOU speak for most of the world? It seems to me that ‘most’ people, with more time than her, will inherently achieve more than two things. She did a few inspirational talks, and created a foundation with the help of others. That’s it. She had little time in the world, as well. I feel like you’re exaggerating her abilities a bit. Your whole comment is just a damn hyperbole.

Every few months I come back to this talk. It honestly changed my life and my mindset around what I can do with my life. I don't have a genetic or autoimmune disease, but I've been living with depression for quite some years and I used to think my life would amount to nothing because I was just stuck with ruining everything. Then I found this talk and I haven't been the same since. Claire was truly an amazing human being and I mourned her death so much; not because I knew her or anything like that, but because I truly believe she wanted to give so much more to the world and it breaks my heart to know she died while trying to do just that. I'll forever love this talk and cherish everything Claire has left behind as her legacy.

Trashcan Man At 60 FPS and the video being 17:32 and there being 1052 seconds in the video (60 seconds in one minute * 17 minutes + 32 seconds = 1052 seconds in 17:32) so you’ll be tattooing 63,120 images onto your body (60 FPS * 1052 seconds = 63120 images) but if your watching at 30 FPS then it’ll only be 31,560 images 🤔 still a lot though 🤷‍♂️😆 Good luck 😬

if anyone is seeing this comment, i would like to further this topic of emotions and adding meaning to your life by showing you a beautiful quote from T.K Coleman who is the new co-host of the minimalists podcast. He shares: "Our feelings are kind of like the seasons, they move in cycles. And it's very easy to view feelings of irritation, feelings of unhappiness, feelings of low motivation, as some sort of evidence against yourself. As some sort of sign that you're doing something wrong" T.K. encourages you to look at those days as like "Rainy days, or snowy days. It's not a sign that you're doing something wrong, it's a sign that your a multi-dimensional human being, who requires the full range of your emotional spectrum, in order to be alive". And this leads me to his last profound quote that has impacted my life in a meaningful way. T.K questions that "I don't think the goal in life is to be happy and motivated. I think the goal is it be 'Emotionally Versatile'. To live in a state of harmony with all of your different feelings [and emotions], regardless of what they are". You're beautiful Claire. Thank you for touching my heart

There's a Latin, elegiac couplet poem, written by Ovid of Rome during the Augustan-era of the Roman Empire, from which you can example testament to the virtues of this young woman and the source of her goodness, in which he writes "dolor hic tibi proderit olim," translating to "someday this pain will be useful to you;" Amores, Book III, Elegy XI. Death, itself, only made her stronger.

Seems you're kind of missing the point about how health, wealth, looks don't define you. This girl is so much more than her looks in the same way she's so much more than her sickness. She contributed so much to the world and that's what's important. Looks are such a shallow thing to focus on after someone has passed away. She would have hated to see people remembering her because she was pretty or because she was sick. Claire's legacy lies in her life accomplishments.

Her worldview is other worldly...Everything we are taught when we are young, that you can't accomplish anything meaningful if you're not rich or famous was crushed by Claire. She seemed more human than human. An angel walking this earth, even if it was brief, it was incredibly profound and touched so many lives.

I cant believe what an inspiration she is, even though she self-deprecatingly says she isnt. She is the same age as me and Ive never met someone with so much life and soul that shines so bright and someone who is so wise. I dont suffer from any phsyical illness but I do suffer from bouts of anxiousness, panic attacks and sometimes deep depression and to me she is my inspiration to keep going and to keep positive so I cant thank her enough for doing that.

I'm trying to shake the weird "no pressure!" feeling I get. Like, what counts as an accomplishment to be proud of? I'd like to think that the betterment of oneself and being kind and helpful to others is accomplishment enough. I wouldn't be as dismissive of happiness. Doesn't making a difference reward in the same way? It feels really good and makes one really happy. That small criticism aside, this was a rare treat. Great talk! Claire has a lot to be proud of.
