Hi Juan -- I just want you to know I read your comment here -- and it means more than I can say as I'm now working on a book on this...It is a Risk Forward in itself...so *your* appreciation here of my TEDx talk has given me strength.

So encouraging for me right now as I have just taken a Risk Forward & am feeling off balance & emotionally raw. I quit my job, put my life in boxes & left Australia for a few months of very much the unknown in America. Right now I am on my own looking after a dog in the rocky mountains so I am having to face myself & my fears & my loneliness & a big part of me just wants to run "home"! I'm in my early 50's & have never been married or had children so I do often feel like misfit! But I'm following my through-line & I know I will have the courage to stay on & travel & explore & be open to meeting amazing people & having profound experiences & growing so much as a person because of it. Thank You from the bottom of my heart Victoria Labalme.

joydelphi I’m truly amazed to read your comment... I believe that this is Universe talking to me through you... I’m single too, never been married and w/o children. I’m in my 30’s and contemplating to quit the job - I I’m most certain not fit for, but giving me great income - to leave for the United States just like you already did.... I feel misfit pretty much all of my life and I begin to accept and feel OK about that. I just want to feel happy on my own and to be this way I guess I need to be willing to risk!

Thanks for sharing your adventure! It’s hard to be away from a community, a basic human need. You will create a new one (and have to distantly anyway right now, so join clubhouse etc)! Small fun thought: your Australian accent (assuming you have that) makes you extra interesting in USA :-).

I was laid off last year, in May. I didn't know what to do with my life. I decided to take a break from work for 6 months and eventually the break turned into a year. Each passing month made me feel like I am lagging so much behind. Recently, one of my friends told me about an opportunity and the next day I learnt that all the positions were closed. I was upset. I am so grateful that I came across this Ted talk. Now I feel it's good that the aforementioned opportunity closed. That's not something I really wanted. I will give this uncertain time the honour and respect it truly deserves.

How nice to hear someone say that you can still move forward without having a big goal. Trust the process happening in and around you.

It's wonderful how your theatre career has contributed to such an engaging speaking style. In deep gratitude, Emily

So much practical wisdom! “I skip my first divorce” is something I can relate to. I decided to accept a marriage proposal at 31... after meeting my now husband of 30 years only 1week! We got married 1month to the date of our initial meeting! We used to declare that we have “arranged marriage” arranged by God🙏and that is big part of it. After listening to your talk, I believe ours is a “risk forward” story!

Hello Victoria. Thank you for the inspiring video. I believe the world has but only one day to live at a time. If we go back or if we go forward, we forget about today and everything goes haywire. I wonder why there is so much confusion in the whole world. I hope I have not offended anyone with my outlook on my life. Thank you again. Well done Victoria.
