My lessons: 1- don't be afraid to ask - ask for feelings, not "doing" - ITS better to ask about what people feel instead of what people have do. 2 - be curious about the world - be curious about the experience of people, about what they have felt 3- don't be afraid of make the obvious questions - 4- words matter - 5- emphaty 6- sometimes the best question is the simple question, like why

Nice video content! Apologies for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you tried - Schallingora Information Investigation Scheme (do a search on google)? It is a good one off product for learning what you need to say to get hired in a job interview minus the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my m8 at last got great results with it.

I like this presentation- straight to the point, clear and accessible (not the typical Ted-pretense) , however, I like to argue that "be informed" kills the inquisitive nature and curiosity. I understand that it related to interviews and avoiding the "obvious", but in general an open mind, a degree of ignorance keeps questioning alive (and our minds too!)

i took it more as knowing the facts - being objective about what has happened, with no interpretations or judgments. like you said questions are about learning about the unknown, so to me being informed is learning what is known so you can ask better questions.

It is said that the obvious question is usually the least asked due to its simplicity, nevertheless it's the simplicity that involves a question what makes it have a great meaning in itself . Whether it comes to an interview or a chit-chat, the use of rhetoric is always present, so much so that is considered the foundation for conveyinf a message objectively without actually having to communicate it directly. In this regard, in order to awaken interest in others one must first show that interest, for people connect better when one of the parties is understood through the other, and thus will be grateful and want to return the interest.

As perguntas mostram interesse, coragem e abertura. 2. 3. 7.

I don't like when people are interviewing me and they ask me the "why" question. My gut response is, "Why would I need a reason?" It feels like they are asking me to condone my actions, or reasoning. On the other hand if they are asking me about why certain people might react a certain way, I don't mind that at all! Ha.
@timmcc6899
@timmcc6899 4 жыл бұрын
This makes me wonder if you really want to be interviewed. Not wanting to be asked why prevents the interviewer from expressing curiosity. The purpose of asking you why is to understand why you condone your actions and reasoning, and if you aren't interested in expressing that for others, then what's the point of the interview? As for your alternative, well that elicits assumptions on their part, and yours, on how others would deal with the situation. If that is the case, then the interviewer might as well interview them, not you.

This speech is full of many interesting statements. However I found it a little bit distracting when Dan was paying too much attention to problems with presentation and e.g. the fact that he touched his microphone by accident. Of course it all was not his fault but in my opinion he should just not make a comment on that and maybe make a small pause and then carry on with his topic.

To make a point of showing that most people are too afraid to ask "the hard" uncomfortable questions... but he's explaining often people want to share that experience with others they just aren't given the opportunity.

Chelsea Smith if we wait for others to give us opportunity then we will all be waiting. Most often it takes the individual to act first. Take the initiative. Act on it. And doors will begin to open.

Because he was showing that he was curious about people of a different color, possibly to see if they had different experiences than their white counterparts (they did), and to show that you should not set limitations to who and what you study and become inquisitive about.
