Mentorship isn’t something that is done to you. Rather, mentorship is something you do for yourself, with the help of other people. Doug has unlocked the secret of mentorship in the digital age and has used it to develop more (and faster) than he ever thought possible.
Doug’s story is one that inspires and challenges people to take responsibility for their life and become what they were meant to be.
Why is mentorship so elusive? When will someone mentor me? How do I find a mentor? Using the power of personal accountability, Doug Stewart has been able to answer these questions for himself and he offers an opportunity for you to do the same.
Instead of giving you a theory about mentorship, Doug shares his personal experience and unique perspective of what mentorship really is and how you can choose to leverage it in your life to achieve amazing results.
Doug Stewart is a student of Mentorship, speaker, writer, facilitator and Dale Carnegie instructor.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

TILL THIS DAY EVEN AFTER 30 PLUS YEARS , STILL SHARING, STILL LEARNING TOGETHER, NOW 58 YEARS OLD, I SEEK THE OLDEST ONES , WOMAN, AND MEN, YOUNG AND OLD, YOU HAVE TO SEEK ALL THE TIME, AND SHARE TOGETHER ALL THE TIME, AND YOU WILL, ALWAYS LEARN ALL THE TIME.

WHEN I WENT TO COLLEGE, I FOUND OUT EARLY OUT I WAS NOT BOOK SMART, BUT PRACTICAL SMART. SO THE PEOPLE THAT WERE BOOK SMART, BUT POOR IN THE PRACTICAL , I FOUND OUT I HAD SOME THING TO OFFER THE PRACTICAL , BUT THEY HAD THE THE BOOK SMART, SO WE MADE A TRADE, BOOK SMART, FOR PRACTICAL, WE ALL WORKED TOGETHER, AND ALL GRADUATED, WITH A 4.0.SHARING IS THE KEY, TO ALL. PRICELESS.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I too am in Alarm clock mode and have been so discouraged as to where to even start as far as what Mentor I should choose. For the past few years I've been watching videos, scouring social media, web pages, podcast, and checking out books from my local library. Sermons, Seminars, Self help, wellness, fitness, historical figures, so hungry because I finally woke up. Thank you!! I finally have a solid plan to start from. I'd almost given up bc I have so much catching up to do.

Don't give up!!! Edit, iterate, test, question, but don't give up! Sometimes, starting from behind is an advantage. Look for the way you can provide value because of your experience. You got this! - Doug

Great talk! I realized that it may never be just one person who will be my mentor and also up until that time I've been 'improvising' by employing your World View, Time Machine, Categorical/Stealth & Anti-Mentor : ) Thanks so much for adding to my tool box, Doug Stewart!

Hi Doug inspiring speech I liked the alarm clock analogy! My question I hope you answer is, what is the one book that you read at any point that changed your life categorically?
@DougStewart919

Thanks Bobby! I appreciate that. A few of the books that really changed my mindset in my mid 20's were How to win friends and influence people, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Rhinoceros Success and QBQ. Have you read any of these?
