What does water actually do in the formula for life? Water scientist and biomedical engineer Gerald Pollack shares new information and ideas about simple things we can do to charge up our human cells faster than our cell phones. The report from his lab will surprise you.
Dr. Gerald Pollack is a professor at the University of Washington. Dr. Pollack’s research investigates biological motion and cell biology. His curiosity was piqued when he dissected a muscle cell and noticed the interior water did not run out, but stayed in place. Why was that? This led to his 1990 book, Muscles and Molecules: Uncovering the Principles of Biological Motion, winning an “Excellence Award” from the Society for Technical Communication. His 2001 book, Cells, Gels and the Engines of Life, and his newest book, The Fourth Phase of Water: Beyond Solid, Liquid, and Vapor won that Society’s “Distinguished Award.”
He is founding editor-in-chief of the journal, WATER, convener of the Annual Conference on the Physics, Chemistry and Biology of Water, and executive director of the Institute for Venture Science. He won the 2015 Brandlaureate Award, previously bestowed on Nelson Mandela and Steve Jobs. In 2016, he was awarded the first international Emoto Peace Prize.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

lol I like that I'm so plant like what he says is still particle physics bound and old chemisty bound.. FOR NOW ! it doesnt split.. it is literally macro quantum behaviour. What happens when one or the other must be the actual state.. when it can be perceived ? you see evidence of things if you think about it.. and I just.. well I dream of a future where the basis of everything is experience and what happens. Because we skipped over all this and went to okay we just want to ez mode all the power in the world lets just force it into... ok fusion reaction. Cant be hard. Strike... how many now.. how long does it actually take and the net ? it will be so negative. Dont get me started on how all those UNLIKE this man.. just keep wasting potential as the majority thinks.. we dont know. This is fine... world is burning.. this is fine ? not fine by me hasnt been for years.. They're getting their way and.. really its going to be looked back on as our own fault. We really let things get way out of control and didnt do the basics. OK.. I must.. avoid raging is all :D

I think Prof. Pollack neglected to mention that splitting of water by photosynthetic organisms requires a complex network of pigments that took hundreds of millions of years to evolve.
@gregparrott
@gregparrott 7 жыл бұрын
+Yuri Gorby True. Photosynthetic organisms and their pigments developed over hundreds of millions of years. But then, the cells within land based animals took many tens of millions and in the case of fish, several hundred million years. It would be an interesting study to confirm that the cells in fish also respond in a similar fashion to light.
@gregparrott
@gregparrott 7 жыл бұрын
+54321Truth I suppose you're a creationist - despite ZERO evidence to support it? Your 'human experience' rationale is a meaningless phrase given that that the concept of evolution was only first proposed in 1859 and intensive study didn't start until the 20th century. No one claimed that a new species evolved within one or two persons lifetime. Do you by chance also believe the earth is flat? Also, if there ARE examples of new species originating. For example, fossilized records show the transition of fish to land animals which continued to have remnants of their gills and where their dorsal fins became legs.

Although I was fascinated by this "new phase of water" idea related to light, as one familiar with the electromagnetic spectrum and its relationship to energy states, my mind kept flashing on the fact that what what he was describing in terms of light effects within the human body, could also be described as what the general population sees as body heat. Yes, almost all our energy consumed to our advantage whether for transport or sustenance is solar in origin, though the residual warmth of the planet's coalescence from Solar system dust has created its own warmth conducive to our biological existence. It did not surprise me that he said that infrared light, i.e. heat formed the peak in the 'EZ' response of water. We, both plants and animals, suffer severe cold, or other extremes of the light spectrum. Gamma, Xray and UV kills cells unless it is down converted benignly toward the IR end of the commonly described 'light" portion of the spectrum. What seems to be happening here on this planet is a tuned biologic response to the wavelengths that facilitate one particular transition in the OH molecular construct we are beginning to find on or near all rocky planets within a similar temperature range.

metabolic processes (work) give off heat as a byproduct. Also, other kinds of work give off heat as a byproduct......such as the motor in a car.....which then is in need of a system to deal with the heat to prevent the engine from over-heating. Likewise, the body has mechanisms to regulate the heat that is generated either from metabolic activities/work or heat from the outside -- that's part of homeostasis.

When I practiced Water Bending or Hydrokinesis; and as I got better, I noticed that I could cause oil to gather in one area of the water, leaving the other side more pure. I've often wondered how I did this. Breaking water tension? Did it have to do with working with Electrokinesis or Biomagnetism, as well? And then I came across this video perhaps a year or two ago; and it really added another dimension to my thinking. Great stuff. Don't know if it's real or not; but definitely worth thinking about and experimenting with. To me, all of Physical Laws are simply projections of RULES of our individual and collective consciousness. How this happens... not sure... probably something to do with Quantum Mechanics, the E8 Model of reality, and other things all combined; but I've always found this world I live in, so fascinating. We're only at the very tip of what can be known. And to me, what can be known is infinite in depth and scope. Just take a look at the Mandelbrot Set equation using a complex number (real and imaginary combined); and the picture it forms as you plot all the points that satisfy that equation. The Fractal and Holographic nature of just that ONE equation says so much about what we DON'T know... the sheer beauty and complexity of Truth and Love.

GD Marketing Spring Water (if actually extracted from a Deep Natural Spring Exclusive Zone) should be negatively charged EZ water. You could also technically make it on your own if you took proper safety precautions and had a transformer and bridge rectifier to convert to DC. Water ionizers work by simply siphoning off the water near the cathode. Water siphoned off the cathode side contains increased levels of hydroxide (OH−) and would be expected to have a higher pH (i.e. be more alkaline), whereas water siphoned off near the anode would have increased levels of H+ making it acidic.

I'm glad to see the academic world is looking into this, ..... wish the Doc. would reference that the "negative" aspects of water [or the EZ] is attributed to oxygen [as opposed to hydrogen] because that's how chemists and physicists describe it. The process he's talking about is electrolysis - how fuel cells work. Do you think he knows this [and he's just writing up research papers as if the discoveries are new]? or he seriously doesn't know it? I can't tell. If the biological electrolysis is *that* much different than fuel cell and other electrolysis applications, a comparison/contrast could help us understand. As it is, it's not clear he's ever heard that, for example, taxi cabs were runnning on hydrogen fuel garnered via electrolysis in NYC before they were running on gasoline --- so, most people paying attention are clear that all energy of the world is electromagnetic energy. Of course our bodies are powered by electricity. The fact academics are hung up on dysfunctional models & theories is unfortunate.

Thank you for this insight. Indeed, I think that at least some of his language chosen seemed to be overly simple, not only in this, but also in other talks for a larger non-scientific audience, so I was tending to think he's over-simplifying. But you might also be quite right.

ONE PERSON'S NOTES FROM THIS TALK - H3O2 fourth phase as semi-crystaline water. - photosynthesis with light breaks water down into H+ OH- Light-induced separation of charges in water to H= and OH- - 10:00 min he does mention mitos and water energy. 13:00 min he says we do what plants do, presumable in mitos as Mercola and Zach Bush believe. In this way in arteries with Hydrophilic surfaces, lymph water, with everything pused out of it by EZ phenomena, becomes a battery. Water becomes a batter when touching Hydrophilic surfaces. he demos a light using water electricity to make a lightbulb on and off. Hydrophilic is opposite of water beading up on teflon. Hydrophilic water spreads out on friendly surfaces such as inside of arteries and capillaries. 5 mins - Sunlight, sun-bathing, expands EZ water zone in us. Infra-red light expands EZ water most. EZ water has neg charge 8:35 cells with and without EZ water. May explain muscle contraction. Fresh green juicing gets EZ water from the living plant into you. May also be deuterium-depleted. 11:22 What builds EZ water in your cells? Green juicing contains EZ. Tumeric, coconut water, builds EZ. Sunshine. Infra-red sauna. Grounding works as Earth is neg charge, helps you build up your EZ water charge.

As I listened to this talk n the other talk by the professor upon this subject n just beginning the journey of studying traditional Chinese medicine with its theories, I wondered if the energy of Qi n its movements within our macro n micro existence could be in fact theoretically very closely linked with EZ - the fourth phase of water which whilst activated n gaining from the divisional qualities of polarities are forming movement, that this is how yin yang n the third element Qi could be explained. The tube experiment where the water maintains flow was fascinating - Qi does flow very closely with blood n I know the heart pumps our blood but the fact our blood is a medium teaming with energetic reactions maintained by Qi?... is EZ n the hidden mind process for a fuller explanation what the Chinese had postulated upon centuries ago, n with their science, have created the theory of the energy called Qi?

Interesting view, I am currently writing a course over the lymphatic flow, and Samuel West had stated many years ago, that the energy the lymph carries is intricate with the NA+K+ pump with Oxygen create energy, and lymph flow with the vacuuming maintenance for the intracellular well-being, and the lymph if stagnant the person will die, wonder if there is a way to measure the life force of the lymph. Lymph is moved by breath, vascular system, and must have the parasympathetic stimuli to increase the flow within the Lymphagions. And you must have the negative charge to move the positive charge, Qi/Chi/LIfeforce, may not be easy to see when alive, but the lack is evident in those suffering dis-ease and death. Thank you for your comment, definitely adds more interest to this study.

I believe the unification of the Chi, (Heavenly)Yang, and the QI, (earthly) Yin mix in the gravitational plane at the navel. The third, or neutral charge, is ether, the breath. You have life when the Prana, Pradi, Proxi, unify. Where Chi goes blood follows. The intention is to guide the vital essence, this life force is known as the Trinity many speak about. We walk in the middle of these dynamic forces and it is our responsibility to intend where we want and how we want to express life. Our challenge is to be present long enough to know when we are off track and how to guide ourself back to that middle path. When the barefeet are on the ground and the light is in our eyes, life is EZ.

Audrey, yes my thoughts exactly. Have you read James Oschman's energy medicine? he refers to the piezo electric, liquid crystalline matrix within the fascia. EZ water seems the next step into the science of this. I work directly with qi and the TCM light body. I can feel and see the way it moves in the body. I firmly believe that water is a vehicle, not only for qi (simplistic) but, by association of the Jing qi Shen, the means by which consciousness/Shen is able to manifest in this polarised dimension via the blood and the inner gates. Yin is the mother of all, to paraphrase the Tao the Ching. Water in it's interaction with light, can be charged by qi based practices. Ancient Egyptians charged the ka/qi body by breathing in sunlight as did the taoists.

Radiant energy. I've learned from Ken Wheeler, unlike charges do not attract each other. Under a Ferrocell, the CW and CCW fields of a magnet are attracted to a vortex between them. I believe this extra vortex is the Inertial plane's of the 2 magnets, mediating between the 2 magnets. The 2 magnets are not attracted to each other, they are attracted to the vortex of the incoming Inertial plane. Is EZ water, H that loses its e- vortex, becoming H-, a proton, only. Does light knock away the e-'s, leaving H-. Aether is split/decays into e-'s and positrons. The positrons enter Counterspace and is seen from Space as a Proton. Connected to the e- in Space. Its Inertial plane has infinite capacitance. Light is perturbations of the Aether field. Compression, of the Aether field. Bounces off the coaxial circuit of the Inertial plane. FLASH, so called photon. Rarefaction. Repeat! Can be seen at, The Slow Mo Guys, "Light at 10 trillion FPS".

For a Biochemist, EZ water feels like how irrational number felt to Pythagorean school. I'm having so many questions. EZ water will line up both inside and outside of Cell membranes. How then any hormone or any molecule really interact with proteins and lipid heads in the membrane? There must be EZ water layer surrounding proteins molecules. Actually now I think about it, the very structure of proteins might be a result of this EZ layer formation. But then any aspiring ligand would have to cross this EZ layer at the first place to interact with the protein. But won't that distort the protein's structure? I guess it's time we dive into EZ layer and see why and how it forms and what happens inside it.

@MegaBanne

I have my hypothesis explaining this phenomenon. I allso wrote to Gerald Pollack and he answered; "Well… not too different from the hypothesis presented in my recent book". So I guess my explenation is somewhat usefull to you. Anyway, here it goes... Hydorphilicity is a phenomenon when solid material reacts electrostatically with water when it comes in contact with the water. This is similar to when materials dissolves in water. The difference in this case is that the water can't break down the material because the bonds that keeps it together is stronger. The force that keeps a water molecule stuck to the surface of the hydrophilic material tears on the water molecule. This tearing is not enough to break it, instead it only reduces the energy needed for the water molecule to break. This type of phenomenon is called "catalysis". So now lets say we introduce a light source to shine up on the water covered hydrophilic surface. With the reduction in energy to tear the water molecule apart the energy from the light becomes enough for nearby water molecules to react with the water molecule stuck on the surface. The water molecule stuck to the hydrophilic surface will have one of its hydrogen atoms stolen and become a hydroxide ion (-HO). The free water molecule becomes a trihydrogen monoxide ion (+H3O). The -HO and the +H3O ions will naturaly react with each other again and eventually form two water molecules again. But if the light source is bright enough the production of -HO and +H3O ions will be faster than the rate which the ions recombine. If more -HO and +H3O ions are forming than recombining then the -HO ions will react with other water molecules to form a flat crystal structure with a net negative charge. A similar structure to graphene, but charged and made out of water. The +H3O ions gets excluded outside of this surface. This new surface is allso a hydrophilic material. This means that the same thing will ocures over and over till the material finds a balance between the energy absorbed from the light source and the energy between the zones of different charge. It is this inner negative zone that pollack calls the exclusion zone. I mentioned light, but all added energy should hypothetically cause this phenomenon to ocure. Even kinetic energy should cause this to happen, which means that this crystline water is a so called dilatant non-newtonian fluid. This means that introducing kinetic energy increases the viscosity of the fluid. If you google "walking on water" you will find a bunch of very cool videos of people running on the surface of pool containing mixtures of corn starch and water. I hope that helped.

Gregory Parrott You are so wellcome:D Yeah, it truly is. ... And as far as I understand hydrophobic materials behave as they do because they do not react with water that much. But who knows, there might be some amazing property to it as well. If I understand it right then Gerald Pollack believes that ez-water is only formed due to light. But if my hypothesis, that it is all about the energy, is right then you could potentially allso generate electrical power out of vibrations and temperatures that doesn't exceeds 100 °C. It would allso explain why it feels so good to have a massage haha :D

+Electro-Cute Perhaps other energy sources would work. But then again, just as there are quantum effects where certain energy thresholds must be met for transitions to occur, light, and even light of specific frequencies may be the 'correct' input.

Want to add to make water more amazing since it is special since it doesn't run out, recycle, and good dielectric materials which magnet can affect it and it is good inductor. Because it has charges that is EZ zone which causes to be good conductor and inductor. Base on water that is flexible and has negative and positive charges, so it can't be connect to other gas which has + and - as oxygen and hydrogen, so combine two to become water, so that would means there is two different cycle of polars charges, but water has one polar charges that means it has only one negative and one positive, that is ez zone, so oxygen and hydrogen do not cause ez zone, so one side is hydrogen and one side is oxygen, well hydrogen has positive and negative to make it hydrogen since mass has cycle of polar. So, that would means ez has higher negative that is mix with low positive as gas like hydrogen or oxygen. But it is full negative, so no mix, so water has highest negative and positive as separate as ez zone than other materials to make it good conductor and good inductor since the separate of two is high to cause resist in materials. Pure water do cause light and not cause electricity within that shock you because there is no series of polar within that will shock you that is impure. So, it has lowest polar which is connect to ez separate as negative of one kind and positive of one kind, both is water in different charges. So, it is one element, not a compound that is mix with other like solid and gas. And it is say above 4 is solid, ez, liquid, vapour, but there is 5 so include the gas, so when heat the water higher level, you can light up the fire thru higher separate of water which become gas, so water as gas, so dry liquid. So, gas that we breathe is connect to water that is not mist, but oxygen. Ya can look the channel 'peter and pete' for water. So, water is special so more special than other materials which other materials is same as other that is has series of cycle of negative and positive that is mixed with one cycle of polar as oxygen, one cycle of polar as nitrogen, one cycle of polar as solid, well, all solid has gas that combine together. The steel that is create is a series of combine so it might be connect to liquid as special so it creates gas, solid, etc, base on combine of those later series to become one whole as solid, other kind of gas. So, the point it is all about process that cause different polar which is charges that separate from other materials that we see. The water is lowest polar element, and for gas it is even lower for gases which ripped off from water so it is lighter as gas, and that gases get smaller as another gas. So, a series of process so it is like a receipt that mixed together base on know what is what to mix together as one whole, so that one whole is different base on different recept, but that whole can be a receipt as well, so it is a fractal process. The raisin you put in cake so raisin is a whole that has series of polar, which has water in it, so water is necessary for all things which represent alive, so all we eat has water, so water enlive things which water has charges, but other things like raisin has charges as well, so it is all about charges which there is separate charges so we see as one like two magnet that repel, so you see the different the gap of space, so the magnet is negative and positive, so both repel. So, water is sentensive to magnet, since it has higher energy to give out, so a good dielectric materials or good inductor materials. So, dielectric materials can give energy for free as it holds the charges like water does, well, that is conductor which gives energy to light. It is both since inductor since you don't get shock, so the conductor of energy is block, so good insulator, and good conductor so it give energy to electricity since base on materials that absorbs the energy to gain light. So, water is good dielectric, base on high density of one polar, and good inductor, base on high density of one polar which is same section as high density. Water absorbs the energy from the Aether which create separate so there is small separate that is Aether as one and mass as another, so there is not high vary of polar, but one kind, but it is all the same so up to macro level as water. Not base on oxygen and hydrogen so that oxygen and hydrogen is base on electrolysis which causes break down since the water has high polar so it has a lot of energy so it can break down things, well, not confirm as right or so base on science but logical make sense so it takes energy to break down things and energy to build up things. Well, it is base on two balance of one energy so like to lift up weight so the weight is higher but what I lift base on my muscle is lower, so can't life, so base on relationship of two, so the energy of water is higher but the energy of other materials is lower since other materials has lower dielectricity and inductor rate, and water has higher rate so can give energy to cause break down easily, that depends on materials. It is about how much rate or not, like my muscle has low rate of strength. So, it is all about balance in connect to charges and cycle of polar which is species of charges, one species of charges that is water, other is nitrogen, other is steel, etc. All charges is connect to one whole that is pure energy, the Aether.
