I think it is because I am Dutch and I am not really aware of when my accent is British or American ...

Because I am Dutch and English is not my mother tongue. I was in the UK so my ear was trained to the British accent but I studied in the US so sometimes that comes through and I myself don't really hear the difference when I deliver a talk ;) does this explain it?
