As someone who has been through THREE residentials and known people DIRECTLY from Discovery Ranch, I don't think people realize how traumatizing and sick residential/outpatient/impatient therapy programs can be. I would be crying as well and I DID when I found out I was going to one. Its not just about "The program not dealing with tantrums" and its not just about "not having your phone". It is scary and terrifying and one of the worst experiences I went through. All I see is a scared girl who doesn't know what she wants, or if she wants life. I can understand how she feels and I can only feel empathy and pray she recovers after going there.

I don't care how "bad" your child is, DO NOT SEND YOUR KID TO ONE OF THESE PROGRAMS. They are horribly abusive and kids come out with more trauma than when they went in. Do any googling about the Troubled Teen Industry and you will find endless stories of adults still struggling with PTSD from what they experienced at these places. Love your child and listen to your child. There is a reason they are acting out like this, and sending them away will make the problem worse, not better.

Many of these programs operate with no oversight, and the abuse is rampant. Maybe plan B is that they all get therapy together as a family unit to start with, to keep them all in alignment, and on the same journey as there's clearly no solid foundation within the family. Sending her off on her own to therapy, im sure made her feel like she was being punished, when there's obviously faults made by all the family. The father seemed to be the only one with any real emotional connection with his daughter. Just my observation. Hope it turns out well for them all ❤

My grandmother was full bloodied cherokee she always told us, you can raise a child the best way you know how but the child is gonna do what they want. I never really paid any attention to it until she passed and she raised my cousin and me and his best friend. When we loss her my cousin and his best friend went down hill quick it didn't matter what drugs they had to find they would and my cousin is still in prison his best friend has been clean for 6 years with two boys, we share time with my cousins kids. I had the kids for two years and then the court told us it would be better for the grandparent to have the kids but we still get the kids every other weekend. I grew up with them two and I've tried everything i could to help them and it felt like i was being used so i had to cut them off they are older than me and i had to hold it together for the kids. But it seems it don't matter how you get raised your gonna turn out however you go through life. I hope these kids that's been to these places are okay and I hope the ranch and other facilities have to answer for what they did and Dr Phil he knew what was going on he had to.💜
