What amazes me the most is how clean her playing always is. No matter how close and you listen, you will never hear her stub a note and it's all in 1 take. Every video of hers is just one take. She started playing guitar when she was 6 years old, so even though she's 15 - 17 years old in her most popular videos she's already had about 10 years of practice by then.
@andrewwhyte99443 ай бұрын
From 6 to 13, she played finger-style on acoustic guitars. Started E guitar after she turned 13! I cant think of anyone, except Jason Becker, who could play E guitar that well in their teens!

The speed of her plectrum hand is out of this world. It's so fast it becomes a blur. The accuracy in hitting the strings is mind-blowing, especially in THROUGH THE FIRE AND FLAMES or Beethoven's 5th movement MOONLIGHT SONATE, using hammer and plucking again with such speed it's unbelievable, she is just fantastic. 😊
@stephenbarlow24934 ай бұрын
I only discovered her a few days ago. I know nothing about guitar playing and music, and my only insight into this is I hung out with people that were into it. Her precision and technique, is flawless. However, one thing I wanted to comment on, are lots of remarks, that she looks bored, emotionless, and nonchalant. I think this is very mistaken. She actually seems hyper-focused to an extraordinary degree, and very emotionally connected to what she is doing. She has to be, to operate in a space, where very few have ever been. This is not just super-dexterity, muscle memory, practise etc - yes, these are essential to these performances, but none of this would work, if she didn't have full focus on what she was doing and feeling it. She is totally into what she is doing, and what people mistakenly see as indifference, is the total opposite. She is totally in the zone. What I'm getting at, is people are focusing on her unbelievable skill, technical ability, hand speed etc. I can't comment on this, not being a musician. But these are not just demonstrations of extreme skill, she obviously has a fine sense of the piece of music and interpretation. How it should sound as a whole.

I used to torture my guitar students by playing them a Tina S. clip and then saying they better practice because I expect virtuosity next lesson. 😝 I love it when classical music is arranged for electric guitar. I don't think enough people appreciate the enormity of the contributions made by composers like Vivaldi, Bach, Paganini, etc. That's why I always loved Yngwie - He basically imagined what these geniuses would've sounded like if they were around today. Even when my students wanted me to teach them a Zeppelin song or some death metal piece, I always threw in a guitar-ized Bach partita or the like.

I know it's just a matter of opinion. So I hope you don't mind me saying that I really don't think any other tone would work on this piece. I am sure, having listened to all of her sixteen covers so many times over, she must have found that any other distorted sound or tone wouldn't work as well as the one she eventually settled for. Considering also especially the technical aspects involved and the execution thereof... Maybe I/we should listen to some other guitar versions to satisfy what one should listen for. We agree that Tina Setkic is just so good overall. A great reaction. I like where you're going with your thoughts about Tina. In fact, I love it.

She's picking extra notes to fill out the sound of a piece of music usually played by a string quartet! Just another sign of her creativity, and, virtuosity. This girl is a real musician, despite what her detractors say (she lacks originality and can only play covers). In every piece of music she plays, she adds her own special touches. Many reactors have said that most of her covers are better than the originals! That verifies her extreme talent and skills on E guitar. This girl could play guitar in any band out there. I wouldn't be surprised if she has a crack at playing jazz, just for the fun of it!

The awkward fretting spread she does without seeming to strain would give me muscle spasms, and then there’s the fact she only rarely glances to check her positioning when leaping several full steps across the fret board. It’s easy to do if you’re bridging a pentatonic scale, but picking up and jumping a half octave away and picking up again borders on ESP. If I was wholly ignorant of what’s she’s accomplishing here I would probably be fanning out, but for me it’s more along the line of being dumbfounded and feeling like I’m past my expiration date. She is freakishly awesome good, though a little disheartening at the same time. I think it’s her age that stuns me, I’ve sat across from some awe inspiring guitarist, though they had twenty to thirty years on this young lady.

No generation "takes over". They come to the forefront. Established guitarists remain etsablished. Blackmore, Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Alvin Lee don't fade into obscurity. They keep their place in the pantheon of greatness. Tina S may be a phenomenon, but she's been at it for over ten years now, and she's still an unknown. She's no longer a "teen" either, but hasn't broken through yet, and probably will become a "prodidgy at 50". Someone of whom future generations will wonder why she never made the big time.
