Basically the trick is not to focus on launching your opponent, but rather being patient and using your pokes and mixups to confuse the other guy. Mixup your timing, vary your highs, lows, mids and power crushes and when they inevitably make a mistake: you punish with what’s available to you. Sometimes this can be as easy as repeating one or two moves that just work in that fight. Other times, you get to land your full combos. You won’t always win pretty, but you’ll win 😊

@ren_lightfoot8 ай бұрын
@@Ttyumbra I think Afro just really hates losing, to the point that it's selling him. "Labbing" is when you spend some time learning basics, combos, etc. But that's only 10% of the game. You have to actually crank up the computer sparring partner and fight against it. That's the other 90% of a fighting game. To do it "right" , you turn it up to the hardest setting and fight. Then, decrease the difficulty until you find where you are. After that, fight until you can increase the difficulty again. Basically, just repeat that process and you'll get better. The issue is.... I can understand now, knowing a bit more about Afro, why he's reluctant to do so. I think he feels it will leave him unmotivated. I genuinely think he just doesn't want to drop the game if that happens. And that's where the real problem lies. You just can't get better at a fighting game if you throw a rager every time you get hit or lose. The only real way to get better is to analyze what you did wrong and try to do it better. That's what the lab is for, a place where you can do that without all the feelings that come with online matches but.... I honestly don't think he's even using the computer sparring at this point. Idk, I can just tell as someone who's done it - if he had, I think he'd be way better than he is now fr.
@Pivot___8 ай бұрын
@@ren_lightfoot that's not how you lab, no good player uses the computer to practice because it's nothing like a real player. once you learn your combos and the basics you're nowhere close to being done with labbing. every time you run into a move you don't know about or a situation you want to find out about, you go straight to practice mode, find that move or set up that situation as a recording, and figure out the answer. you can also do it in the recording with the replay takeover feature. if you do it a lot, you will be in the lab between games figuring out what you just faced and pretty much every game will be an improvement for you. at higher ranks labbing is at least 50% of tekken, probably more

15:20 Ayo Afro, seeing you trying to press both kicks or punch buttons at the same time to get specific moves, configure your button layout to have L1 - both Punches, and L2 - both Kicks. It'll save you the trouble of having to press both and accidentally miss-inputing a regular punch or kick.
