I’m from the UK born and bred, but I’ve lived and worked among these people in the Philippines and they are so lovely, they pretty much always smile, I learned a lot when I was there, not just practical things but values too, and how to approach life, particularly problems. They never moan, they just laugh or smile. They are resourceful, and resiliant. I was so impressed I married one! Best thing I ever did. And trust me, I’ve seen some pretty interesting vehicles over there, reminded me of “Whacky Races” a cartoon from back in the day with Dastardly and Mutley, who remembers them? I live back home in Britain now with my amazing wife, but I have a part of me that’s homesick for the Philippines, that’s how much it affected me, watching this made me all nostalgic. Love them! ❤️ I especially love my Filippino family, my in-laws, salt of the earth and very family oriented. If it wasn’t for my health I would live there permanently, no question. When I was there I met other Brits and Americans and other Europeans who had married Filippino’s, many of them lived there. It used to wind me up how many of them would have a superiority complex, always moaning about how they did things and how they always wanted money. If you marry a Filippino you marry into the family, not just the bride. Of course they look to you for help and support, their lives are hard and they have little or no money, so if your thinking about marrying a Filippino, know that you will be expected to help the family out, it’s just the way it is, if your not prepared to do that then move on, it’s that simple. I don’t mind sharing whenever I can, my wife and I have paid for her young brothers education, we pay for medical bills and we send money for food every month. I knew this before I married and I’m ok with it, but if you are not prepared to do that DONT marry a Filippino. Personally, I love my Filippino family and am glad to help out. 😃

This brings back memories from when I was stationed at San Fernando, La Union in the 1970s. I had a Yamaha Enduro 360 and I used to take it up in the mountains where people lived in huts on stilts. Some of the old people up there told me the last American they saw was around WWII! People up there were poor but seemed friendly and happy.

This type of Motorcycle transport is quite common in the mountains of Mindanao, and I have seen Tricycabs transport things like over 20 feet of bunches bamboo and half ton of gravel/ sand. When challenged we improvise, a lot of tasks are still done manually, like cutting lumber and mixing cement.

There are plenty of Jeepneys in Manila, and in Cagayan de Oro, Mindano. Probably lots of other places too. So years go back when there’s no cemented road this is their transportation (people, goods and essentials) in the mountains. In Metro Manila they also use the term Habal Habal for a motorcycle transport rental that is not registered to any known licensed transport company. На велосипеде колесо выдерживает тоже приличный вес. Конечно, превышение веса, приведет к быстрому износу. При езде по кочкам, спицы быстро разболтаются, либо вылетят, деформируется обод. Поэтому он возит с собой запасное колесо.
