In this episode on Tekniq, we see varied forms of harvesting edible goods, from sugarcane in Indonesia to coconut in Thailand.

That cane train is insane in the brain ! note how all of the guys handling the cane have their heads, necks, arms, legs and in most cases also their hands covered. This is because the edges of the long leaves are incredibly sharp and can easily cut flesh. I did NOT know this before I planted some cane in my backyard! Now if they would just give gloves to all of the guys handling the heavy sections of steel track!

This is very hard work......the sugar can will leave you cut and scratched to sh!t picking by hand and depending one where the sugar cane is you can be dealing with all kinds of big nope situations from little creepy crawlies to big animals

Well, I did not see any modern trains transporting the sugar cane. But the harvesting of the coconuts was interesting. Also the handling of the bees. AND what i never thought to hear, a Cuckoo (bird). I thought they are -native - to Europe only?

Já tem mais de uma década que a colheita manual de cana deixou de ser feita no Brasil, era um serviço degradante e antes da colheita o canavial era queimado para facilitar o corte, agora é toda mecanizada!

In Indonesia, specifically at the Madukismo Sugar Factory, Yogyakarta, there is a sugar cane train which is used as a tourist train with a route around the factory.

I live near this sugar factory in Yogya.These factory was build from the Germans maybe at the same time when they also used the locomotives from VEB LOKOMOTIVBAU KARL MARX BABELSBERG Baujahr 1955

Transporting sugarcane by train is the best. I don’t know the cost involved here but even but using regular on road transport is very difficult; the way it is done in some other developing nations.
