My granduncle (grandpa's younger brother) was in the British Indian Army when he was sent to Burma to fight the Japanese during the WW2. He used to tell me stories of the jungles and villages stretching from Chittagong (now B'Desh) to Mandalay, how the Sikh and Jaat soldiers managed to survive the undergrowth and the weather, the then Indian Railways, the snake and snail-eating tribes, etc... This video has taken me back to those stories and that era in fact. Thank you for this superb camera-work.... With lots of love from West Bengal, India.

Excellent video 👍Your amazing patience is remarkable. It appears that Time has stopped here. The uncontrolled bushy growth is a reflection of the inefficient lazy railways. That said, the video reminded me of my father who would narrate the difficult times my grandfather who was in the Burma Railways, i think Signalling dept., had to undergo. This is in context to the World War 2 when the Japanese carpet bombarded Burma and our country men were fleeing to India across dense jungles, turbulent rivers, british soldiers and not to forget the wild life. But my father spoke very kindly of the Burmese people, their education and values (he was a 12 year old then) and i cherish the day when i may be able to visit Burma😊with my family. It may never happen in todays context. Am from Hyderabad, India. Best wishes to all!

Their locomotives must carry a lot of sand to combat wheel slippage with all that foliage on the rails. Reminds me of operations on some Penn Central branch lines around here in the early 1970s just before their abandonment - weeds, bushes, and tree branches everywhere! Neat to see the loco crawling up the track through all the overgrowth.
