Thanks Tony :) I think I've got a good line for this track. Maybe I can do a little more fine tuning to make the truck handle even better. Although I'm not sure I can because after looking at the lap times, I could have finished in the top 3 of ebuggy class that day. I never thought that was possible until now. rcscoringpro.com/events/19694/

@@in4bliss Is the 410sl noticeably lighter / nimble vs. the 410.3 ?
@in4bliss
@in4bliss Жыл бұрын
@@sprc3352Yes, very. It's like night and day. I like the 410.3 also but it's a different beast. Very solid, durable and predictable. It's like a tank. The SL is sleek in comparison. It's like the Hulk vs Iron Man lol. Aside from being more nimble, I like the SL because it seems easier to tune, easier to clean and for me, easier to drive. I sold my 410.3 last year lol that says a lot.

@@in4bliss I plan on building one for turf / carpet , I have a HW XR10 Pro with a RevTech 6.0 , .... or a Tekin RX8 Gen 3 with a HW 3660 4300kv for electronics ? Is the bigger can 3660 to much torque for this truck ? And would a small can motor be to little ? See you run a 6.5 .
@in4bliss
@in4bliss Жыл бұрын
@@sprc3352 The smaller setup sounds perfect for turf. It would be similar to what I'm running and with a 17T pinion, I had crazy torque. I went up to an 18T to calm that torque down and gained a nice straightaway speed advantage. I still have plenty of torque. The smaller setup is also nearly perfectly balanced left to right with a shorty 2s ran to the rear. On the other hand, I could see the 3660 4300kv working just fine also. As long as you balance the weight out with a normal length 2s. Usually indoor turf tracks don't have too much of a straightaway so the speed of the 540 vs the torque of the 3660 would be purely preference. I'm also thinking the extra weight of the bigger setup with a full size 2s might calm the truck down.. especially on an off-road dusty/bumpy track (in trade for being a little less nimble). For indoor turf though, my initial pick would be the smaller setup. It's so nimble and quick and I'm still passing Losi's and 410.3's on the straightaway that are all running a 3660 setup with the larger esc.

Appreciate the content. I have a 410.3 and it is certainly the best SCT I've ever had. Everything about it is rock solid. It flat out just doesn't break. Bashing, racing, it can do it all. My only question on it is that it is really heavy even for a SCT. When racing I can't help but wonder if something lighter would be better served at the track. That's where this SL comes in and I figure this has to be just about as good of a racing 4wd sct one can get. It's on my short-list. Anyways, keep up the good work. | On a side note, what are some of the common 4wd models you're facing against there at the track?
@in4bliss
@in4bliss Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate you watching! If I had to pick one, the SL would be my choice. It's more nimble and the chassis layout is super clean. The non-symmetrical chassis and side guards of the 410.3 with integrated battery mount and receiver mount was just weird for me. This also made it harder to keep clean. Those side guards played a big part in chassis flex. I actually cut off the rear portions on mine to lighten it and got more flex in the rear. But ya, the SL layout and design works very well. It's easy to keep clean and has been very durable. Nothing broken in 7 races! Also, the variety of parts is really good because it shares most of them with the EB/ET410.2. Honestly though, I'm wishing I kept my 410.3 because the SL's weakness is the wind. If you watch the 7 wins video, I was really struggling to drive with the wind blowing. It made the truck very unstable even on the track. On a jump it was floating away lol. The 410.3's extra weight is great in windy conditions. Oh, and most of the trucks I'm racing against are 410.3's and I know two of them are Losi 3.0's. The two trucks that got in front of me in my most recent race video were both Losi 3.0's. Luckily the wind was calming down and I drove consistently enough to get the lead back. If the SL bumps into a Losi or 410.3, the SL goes flying lol! Thanks again for the support. Btw, I'm actually looking to get a 410.3 as a back up truck... especially for those windy days!

It was originally going to be a Hobbywing XR10 Pro/V10 6.5T combo that I had in a truggy but ended up selling the whole thing to a friend. Then I was thinking about getting the Tekin setup because Jared Wiggins is running that. But it was pricey and I saw posts on fb about 10th scale esc's and 5.5/6.5T doing well. So... I had a 4wd mod buggy I wasn't using with the Reedy 510r and Sonic 540 M3 6.5T combo and took it out of there lol. Sold the 4wd buggy and the rest is history! Honestly, I figured I'd save money and try the Reedy first and if I didn't like it, I'd try something else. If I had the extra money, I'd get the same Trinity MX10 Pro combo that I have in my Tekno ET410.2 but maybe with the newer Phenom 6.0T. And if I had even more money, I'd like to try a Hobbywing XR8 Pro with a full size 3660 Tekin 4300KV and full length 2s batteries just to see how it drives with the extra weight. But at this point, I'm very happy with the power and speed I have with the Reedy setup. I have plenty of torque and if you look closely, my front tires are lifting off the ground when I full throttle on the straightaway. By the way, for the race 4 video, I switched from a 17T pinion to 18T and it feels like a really good balance of torque and top speed. Thanks for watching!

The truck is meant to be light so I kept with a light setup. But the drive train seems like it can handle more weight. My buddy Luis who's super fast has the SL too. He's running my setup but has the Hobbywing XR10 Pro V10 G3 6.5T combo. He stays right there with me but he crashes a lot. He's had zero problems with the Hobbywing setup and has plenty of power too. It's a tough call, I know. This stuff is expensive. You can't go wrong with the Tekin setup either and it's not that much heavier. Just try to get the side to side balance as equal as possible because it helps with the handling and flight characteristics of the truck. Let me know what you decide! BTW, I tried to put a used Tekin 4300KV 3652 motor in my SL but it wouldn't run right. Kept cutting out. Not sure if the motor is good because I bought it used from eBay. I was curious how it would run though. I think there's a setting I don't know about when trying to run a 4-pole on the 1/10 esc. From my research, 4-pole has more torque and 2-pole has more top end. Honestly though, I'm not even sure if the Sonic 540 M3 6.5T is a 2-pole or not. Can't find the specs to verify. My point is, if the Sonic is 2-pole, it's not lacking in torque for the SL and it has killer top end.

Thanks, I and still really new to the hobby. I got me a pro4 sc10 as a starter truck that I take out there to coral springs whenever I get a chance which isn't very often with work and having young kids but I always watch the KZbin videos and you are always killin it. I put a hw ezrun max10 3660 4000 kv combo in it, VP pro tires, and am thinking about upgrading the shocks because everytime down the straight away its really bouncy and my diffs are way lower than what you have, I put 5,10,3

@in4bliss Жыл бұрын
@@kevinbarnes2294 I'm not too familiar with that truck. Maybe try to go up in shock oil since it's super hot outside already. At least to 350 in the front and 300 in the rear and softer springs. For the diffs, it seems the smaller they are, the higher cst they go (for off-road at least). I guess it's because there's only half the amount of diff oil in the smaller diffs. Maybe try going with what's in the manual and try the stock setup for diff oil.

Hey m8 did you find any advantage or better handling inversting rear suspensions mount?
@in4bliss
@in4bliss Жыл бұрын
Hi Max, yes I did for sure feel a difference! From what I've researched, the rear shock on the front of the arm helps the car rotate and turn better on indoor or tighter tracks. Maybe something to do with more weight forward and possibly the shocks reacting sooner. Although in practice, that's for a much shorter wheelbase car like 4wd buggy or 1/10 truggy. If you look at every other car/truck with the wheelbase of a short course or 1/8 ebuggy, the shocks are always to the rear. What I felt right away was a less nervous, easier to drive and more planted truck. The SL already rotates and turns very well. Almost too good actually. I had to take some steering away. The shocks in the back also helped with the loose rear end. The rear tends to follow the front more since the change. Also, when I case a jump or land funny, the truck seems to recover better with the shocks in the rear. I would only ever put the shocks back to stock position if I was going to race at a smaller/indoor track. Hopefully this link to my setup sheet works. linksharing.samsungcloud.com/z2glrz1uDo6Q If not, it's in my Facebook post: m.facebook.com/groups/SCT410/permalink/2412469615579051/?ref=share&mibextid=NOb6eG

Can anyone recommend an alternative ESC? Can't really get any Reedy stuff down under at the moment. Is a 13kg servo enough in this kind of set up?

@in4bliss Жыл бұрын
If you can order this Hobbywing combo, it would be really good. www.amainhobbies.com/hobbywing-xr10-pro-g2s-sensored-brushless-esc-v10-g3-motor-combo-6.5t-hwa38020329/p1414898 I only run the Reedy combo because I already had it. My buddy Luis runs the Hobbywing combo in the link and we had to turn the throttle punch level down quite a bit. Plenty of torque and speed. A 13kg torque servo is plenty for the 410SL. That's a little over 450 oz. and that's what I'm currently running.

@@in4bliss Thanks mate. I bought an older Sanwa SSR compatible servo as I still have my old mt-4s transmitter. Hmmmm, I am kind of trying to steer clear of Hobbywing as they seem to own the market now. I'd rather support some of the old guard, if you get my meaning. Like Maclan, Muchmore, Arrowmax, etc. Currently I only have a new old stock Novak GTB and motor combo (13.5t) and my old Reedy Blackbox 800z and motor combo (13.5t). I have a Reds Racing 7.5 turn motor, don't have an ESC that can handle it. There things is I bought a bunch of Tekin pinions only to find they are for 5mm motor shafts. I don't have any motors like that. What sort of pinions are you using so you're able to use your Reedy combo?

@@AdamAus85 How about Trinity? If I had my choice, I'd run the Trinity MX10 Pro with a 6.5T Trinity Revtech motor. I have that combo in my ET410.2 (but with a 5.5T) and it's crazy good how smooth and fast it is. Although, it has the upgraded bearings and rotor so it's basically one of the most expensive setups. As far as pinion gears, I'm running cheap Amazon ones lol. The mesh is perfect. In my first 4 races I used a 17T. The last 3 races, I switched to 18T. By the way, there's an adapter sleeve you can use with your 5mm pinions. Here's the link for the pinions I'm running. @@in4bliss awesome thanks. Did going to 10k in the rear help with oversteer? I race at a similar 1/8th scale track to yours, but it’s dry and dusty. Mainly having issues with the back end being too loose, and the chassis slapping over jumps and doing nose dives. I have the brass C block on order too.
@in4bliss
@in4bliss Жыл бұрын
@@davebilldavebill961 It felt pretty good. Maybe try adding a washer or two with the screw for the steering limiter. Also, the throttle punch level and frequency help keep the power in check. If running hobbywing, try 18 or 20 (out of 30) and higher frequency for looser tracks like 16k. And nose diving? Hmm, mine rarely nosedives with my setup as you can see in my videos. Could it be a throttle control issue? Try not letting off the throttle until you clear the face of the jump. As far as chassis slapping, mine does quite a bit. Big jumps and ruts with 22mm ride height is going to get chassis slap but the droop limited to 85mm and 99mm keeps the truck from bouncing and rolling too hard. I probably watch my race footage more than anyone to see exactly what the truck is doing. It seems pretty well planted and not bouncing too much. If it's super dusty, try lower diff oil in the rear. If the track is fairly smooth, try the 1.9 sway bar in the rear. If it's rutty, taking it completely off would be better. I'm also running the SCT410.3 bumper which is adding weight. Fresh tires makes a world of difference. I'm running soft compound in this 85-90° humid weather. If it's cooler and less humid where you are, try super soft Vp-Pro Evo Gripz.
