Hi Priya:) I am a dentist&acupuncturist in the Vancouver area in BC Canada. Thank you for all the insightful and informative videos. I plan to learn DTR as well to maximize the function of Tscan we have in the clinic. 1. Did you get Tscan and EMG ? 2. Have you ever tried to learn ALF therapy?
@theTMJdoc4 ай бұрын
@@sominkwon3919 1. yes and I love it! 2. Learning ALF therapy is incredibly time consuming and costly and it is Phase 2 treatment. I only do phase treatment currently :)

Yes! After root canal treatment and a pulled molar. Same symptoms. Every single one of them. Seen so many specialsts. The thing is I live in Europe and I feel we're so behind here. I'm in daily pain since my dental treatment 4 years ago. I never had any tooth or face or neckpain in my life before it. Yet doctors say it's stress or tmjd or lack of sleep, I even heard fybromyalgia. I told them: listen, this pain started right after this dental treatment and hasn't been gone ever" isn't that a huge sign? I feel so let down by doctors. No scans were done but only xrays, they made me a call mouth guard. Doesn't help. Have done botox.. Doesn't help. No one has ever mentioned this. And I don't even think they believe this exists. Cause I've seen everyone and they don't have a clue. 😢

Same issues right after wisdom teeth extraction. It is now 7 years of this hell.
@TheNoepje20 күн бұрын
@@renu653 so sorry to hear. That's why I'm so scared to get this wisdom tooth removed that has now erupted. But orofacial surgeon says it needs to come out at some point cause it can cause infection now since white specks are sticking out of my gums. I'm 40 and never in a million years could I have guessed that I would be teething at my age. It's hell. Since I've already had an upper molar removed at that location to make room for this wisdom tooth, I've regretted it ever since. Cause that's when all my issues worsened. It was a healthy molar but dentist decided to pull it cause I told him I was in so much pain. It was prob from the tooth next to it, where I had several root canal treatments. But he thought it was the wisdom tooth pushing against the upper molaso it had to go. This wisdom tooth sits deep in my gums, a full grown one with very long roots. Yet there's no infection, the roots and nerves aren't touching anything, except perhaps my maxilary sinus. I've asked for a cbct scan 10 times and they don't find it necesarry to do one. In my country they try to keep you away from these expensive scans. So I literally feel I am not getting the care I so desperately need. I've been going back and forth to if I should have the wisdom tooth removed. Orofacial surgeon says he'll close the m. sinus if needed. I absolutely believe that the pulling of the upper molar has caused me this severe tmjd. I think something is damaged, orofacial surgeon doesn't deny it, but at the same time wants to pull the wisdom tooth as well. I can't handle any more pulling. My wish is for this upper wisdom tooth to fully errupt, it's a healthy tooth. It has enough room to replace the missing upper molar. I'm praying it will substitute for it. Gnatologist says it might, others say it won't, it'll prob come out in an angle and needs to be removed anyways. Omg, what a hell. So I truly understand you. It's aweful. I wish you all the best. Tmjd is so underrated. My gp hadn't heard of it she didn't even know what a Gnatologist (tmjd specialst) is. She kept sending me to an ENT. If doctors arent educated then the joke's on us.

I have 3 wisdom teeth which I make contact on only and on the left more. Would you remove the wisdom teeth before DTR ? Or leave them. I have so many issues. Cervical spine issues spinal cord tension so any thing off in my cervical spine effects me neurologically. Also thoracic outlet syndrome.

Hey Priya! I’m the first DTR certified provider in the UK, Cavan. Pleased to virtually meet you! I was wondering now that you have started pursuing DTR, how does that leave your orthotics practice? Is it only for ‘true joint-only’ patients? How would you phase treatment for a mixed myogenous + joint case -- Would you start with orthotics as you have done successfully, or start with DTR, since DTR tends to reduce the joint problems as well ? (Piper classifications go down 1 class on average)

There’s no way I can answer this via comments! These are complicated questions! DTR has definitely changed my practice for the better - that much I can say 🤍

This is a great tool but I wish it was regulated better. My story is exactly like the example you gave. I went to a dentist to use the t-scan and he took too much off my molars and adjusted my bite to have more pressure on the front teeth. This particular dentist uses the t-scan as a marketing tool to claim he can fix tmj for anyone. His adjustments made my tmj worse and I had to get more adjustments 😢.

Not directly. But sometimes the pain from TMD can trap your body in fight or flight mode which can then affect your digestive system.
