It's crazy that people today think black people are the only ones who endured slavery. During the same period of the Atlantic slave trade in North Africa the Muslims were calculated to hold over 1million white slaves. The Irish were sold in the west indies, the Slavs were sold to everyone for centuries. The Chinese, the japanese.....ever single culture had and were slaves. The difference is that while thw rest of the world was outlawing slavery and difhting wars to eradicate it Africa was still plowing headstrong into the slave trade and was the last continent to outlaw it. Of course we know these days that slavery in many different forms is as big as it ever has been. She only cares about black people, gives credence to the suffering of black people.....she's a racist, pure and simple. More black people have suffered at the hands of black people than anyone else. White people needed black people to hate black people enough to go get them and sell them. The same is true of natives, whites, Chinese, central amercians, South Americans and so on and so on, it's our ignorance to not know the crazy history of slavery and rather sociopathic for black people to belive they are special when it comes to slavery, scale doesn't matter.

I've experienced racism from Black people first hand while at my former job. Multiple times. Also from Mexicans. In fact, when I brought it to the attention of our HR department, they weren't even fired or reprimanded despite the fact they had a zero tolerance policy on racism. I actually got suspended for 3 days without pay because I stood my ground and retaliated non-violently. I never once used a racial slur or commented on their skin color during the exchange of words, all I did was yell back at them and defend myself verbally and I was still punished because I'm White and they didn't want to punish the other employees out of fear of being accused of racism. No one can tell me Black people are oppressed when they can boldly walk around and abuse others on the basis of their skin color and not face punishment for it. That's the definition of privilege. I don't care what anyone says, in modern day America, I see far more racial abuse coming from the Black and Mexican communities than any other group.

My great great grandmother was a slave also, lady. And what has been passed down through story is that she loved Jesus. She did not pass anger and hatred down to her children. I saw the witness of her life passed down to my great grandmother who I got to meet and know a little bit more. Then there was my grandmother who loves Christ. 3 generations! For those of us, of a darker shade of melanin, that want to keep hashing over a past we did not live and bring in the bitterness and harshness of slavery we did not experience, stop it! Your ancestors would probably tell you to stop it and that you are more free than they ever were. Stop it! How did the black community evolve from its pre-1960s state to its current state? The dominant culture used the system to pump drugs and guns, to build over black areas in order to destroy them, and to violently demolish every black neighbourhood that was successful. Discrimination persisted in all aspects of life, even after the passage of many civil rights bills, as we see today. The school-to-prison pipeline, for example, is dishonest if you only look at the aftermath while neglecting the context.

As a black person shes definitely wrong, but for some reason it’s so hard for us to let go of slavery. I even catch myself getting defensive about it sometimes. I really can’t even explain why, but it’s a sensitive topic that often times overshadows our logic and common sense.

To know that an identity has been foist upon you unwillingly, to know that you have been grouped up with all others that have a similar skin tone/ancestry as you, and that those people were collectively abused by another very large group of people for a very long period of time can be a painful thing. There is no doubt that that knowledge can bring pain, resentment, and vengefulness to a person. The key is that we all have reasons to want to take revenge if we look back far enough, or blow things out of proportion, some may be more valid than others. But no matter what, whenever you choose that path of revenge, you end up making things WORSE. The only real solution is to be better than what has been.
@Me-hf4ii
@Me-hf4ii Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing and being so open about an important topic! I think part of it is because it’s pushed in all our faces ALL the time. We aren’t allowed to let go. Something to consider: all of humanity has been slaves somewhere in our history. The Irish more than any other group - they were pretty much enslaved by everyone at one time or another. So it’s a shared experience. And it’s likely that some of our ancestors, no matter who we are, have been on both sides of. The other thing to note is no one living in the US today has ever been a slave or participated in slavery. So rather than looking at the races - it’s helpful to remember we are all part of one big tangled and sometimes VERY dysfunctional human family.
