Probably not your thing but T.rex Electric warrior album and cover has always been iconic to me. Maybe as it was the first album I bought with my own money in 1971...

Melanie's "Candles In The Rain" from 1970 is one that deserves attention. Breathtaking photo.

Nice list John. My picks would be more for their humor. The Temptations "Wish It Would Rain" ; The Who's "The Who By Numbers" ; MAMA and the PAPA'S "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears"; Pretty Things' "Silk Torpedo"; and Manfred Mann's Earth Band's "The Roaring Silence".

Fun video, that Led Zep (6 covers) was brilliant. I have taken decades to find all 6 covers A thru F. I even have an F with the original paper bag cover. Only one had someone brush water on the inner sleeve to reveal the water colours. I could use a better copy of my B, it’s a bit worn. 😊

On the back of "Breakfast in America" album, members of Supertramp are reading their hometown newspapers. This and "Crisis? What Crisis" are absolute classic covers. Thanks, John!

Hi John. Good choices. The one with the writing all over the back is Go2 by XTC.

A favourite of mine would be the cover for Nightclubbing by Grace Jones. That pose is sheer genius. And I like quite a few of the album tracks as well.

I grew up in Sweden, so I obviously bought the original Swedish pressing of "ABBA The Album". The cover is slightly different from the British issue, since the background of the drawing is completely white, with no blue sky. It isn't a gatefold either, so the lyrics are printed on the inner sleeve and there is no photo on the backside of the cover that also has a completely white background.

Yes I noticed the differences in later years but the blue one is what I grew up with!

John, have you ever done a video that evaluates which solo Beatle songs would actually have made the cut on a Beatles album? I suspect that many solo songs would not have been accepted by John, Paul and George.

The Hipgnosis documentary is called Squaring The Circle. Going back to the 70s I loved illustrated covers such as Capt Fantastic or Procol Harum live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra - things you could study and still find something new each time you looked at it. Or photographic ones which made you wonder how they had done it eg. Peter Gabriel 2 or 3 (known as ‘Scratch’ and ‘Melt’). Pre-Photoshop or desktop publishing days, of course.

Of the eleven, I've got Breakfast in America framed up and on the wall. A favorite is Lennon's Rock and Roll cover with the smaller title above the door.

Good review John But, one thing when you hold up a picture of a album sleeve. You've no need to sway it left to right. We can see it clearly if you hold it still. Makes us have dizzy feeling Great review though. Regards
