Disney: let’s make Mulan more realistic. She’s fighting the north, so she must have been from the most southern part of China. Despite in the poem it said: “she said goodbye to her parents and by nightfall, resting next to the Yellow river, not hearing her parents’ cry for their child, but only hearing the yellow river cry.” The yellow river is in the north. Over 1000km from where the type of building she lived in was (and also that building wouldn’t have existed until 400 years later). Wait, China has those super fast railway right? That must be how she got there.

Great point about the Audio for Tenent. I watched it for the first time at home, but my friend refused to let me put on subtitles😑 Since about 2016 I started watching every movie with subtitles on. It’s helped so much, especially with movies that take place in different locations and the general mumbling in so many films. With my obnoxious friends that could not focus their attention enough to enjoy the movie, we simply watched something else. I watched Tenet again, although I still couldn’t piece it all together, I really enjoyed it. My 2nd time around watching by myself, I finally figured out what this movie was all about. Very few movies these days are so jam packed with plot twists, that you literally have to watch it multiple times to understand. But I very much enjoyed the journey through each viewing. IMO it’s not Nolan’s best work, however it’s well worth watching, and challenging yourself with trying to grasp what’s happening. Often times movies I love on the first viewing, after rewatching, I’ll question my own taste. The excitement of seeing a movie you’ve been looking forward to can oftentimes distort your critical mind towards that film. So with second viewings, my opinions can change. There are a multitude of reason we watch movies, and I believe upon rewatching them, you can critique the movie honestly. As the first viewing, we want to be entertained.
@SAMSARALIVEEEEEE3 жыл бұрын
Tenet was insanely entertaining on first viewing though. Even if i was confused as all hell i was still entranced by the vibe of the music plus the mind blowing action, also i don’t get the criticism over the characters being emotionless, not every movie needs to have that kind of stuff, the characters in the movie are literally time travelling spies, they get shit done and they’re cold as ice. I felt like having them not really show their emotions throughout the film helped the scene at the end too. When the protag tears up when neil reveals the truth to him, i thought that was a powerful moment and people aren’t giving that enough credit.

Not to mention the animated film understood how to use visual storytelling to convey the message. The most obvious one is the burned village in the remake they walk past it and the mouth piece for “look how bad war is guys” talks about the devastation of war. Compare that to the animated scene, the tonal whiplash from how fun it’ll be when we return to boom war isn’t fun and games.
