I want to add that my daughter was in a car accident 9 years ago. We were contacted by authorities to go to the hospital. She was in critical condition, brain injury, punctured lung, crushed pelvis...the list of injuries too long. She had been thrown 125 feet from the vehicle. Air ambulance took her to the trauma center. She was in a coma but days later came out of it. She was alive. It was a long road of recovery but we have her here today. That night we were told she wouldn't make it and committed her into His care. He didn't stop her car from crashing but I believe He did give her a second chance. She hadn't gone to church in years but about 24 months after the accident she told me God spared her for a reason and started going to church again. I drove my daughter home tonight,heard this song and now you know the rest of the story.

I learned something several years ago when my friend’s young daughter in law passed leaving behind her young son & husband. All my friend Ann could say was “why did God take her”. After prayer & fasting & asking God what to say to her, I heard this” I am not the taker of life but the giver of life. I received her, home. I am the receiver! She is in your future, in your past and in your present through your memories. Keep believing, she was important to Him & you are just as important to Him🙏 None of us want to ever walk in your shoes. She had it in every fibre of her being and the night I was told she wasn't doing so good, I prayed for God to either take her away from her misery or heal her completely. Two days later, she passed. It still breaks my heart, but I know she's not suffering or in pain anymore. I dream about her a lot, but I have yet to figure out why. I would like to know what the dreams are about though. I loved her like a mother, although she was only 15 years older than me, she was still an important person in my life.

This song really hits home for me. On 11/6/14, any mothers worst nightmare became my reality. I lost my 19 yr old son in a single car accident. Exactly one mile from my door steps to his wreak site. Even the part when she sings " somewhere there's a mother who stopped going to church, bc your plan stopped making since down here on earth." It has been going on 6 years now. I don't feel as if I am any better today then I was the second the accident happened. I do pray often that when my time here is done. I am called upon to go home. That God will tell me why the accident had to happen. Why was my son not one of the lucky ones? Why was my son not given a second chance at life? Was he needed in heaven for that big of a purpose? To all the other moms that walk in the same shoes as me. May God keep his healing hands on your shattered hearts.

For anyone who does not know the story behind it. There was a girl in Grand Manan, New Brunswick Canada who was involved in a crash with 4 other people in the summer of 2014, the 4 people with her survived but she died, her name was Danielle Park. She now has a tournament named after her which my school attends every year because we are the closest highschool, and I do believe that jersey is still hanging up in their school gym.

I'm from New Brunswick and know Grand Manan and it is a small tight knit community. Unfortunately tragedy can hit anywhere. I lost my brother when I was 3 , he was 6. He was stabbed to death outside a community hockey rink in Northen Ontario (unsolved). I often wonder what life would have been like had he lived. My Dad stopped going to church for many,many years after, because he couldn't understand how a merciful God could let something like this happen.

Cant explain how this song makes me feel. I had three friends from high school die in high school from a small town in Oklahoma. Song rips me apart thinking about their parents thinking about where they would be now if they were alive, and why did they have to die so young. Hard pill to swallow, I know this because I have asked the same questions myself over and over again. The simple answer is faith. All we have to do is look around us at all of his glory and remember that the flesh is flawed. I ask myself why he can't stop a car from crashing every time I think of my cousin who was killed in a car crash. Then I remember he must have a larger purpose in life and God needed him more than we did. I'd like to think my child that didn't make it past 10 weeks is now up there with my cousin and that they're holding hands and looking down here with the rest of my family members that have passed away.

Lost my brother in a car accident 17 years ago. He was 16. Played football. They have his (and two others who died) number up on the football tower at the field and my mother has his jersey. Love this song.

I work in construction and we always have the radio on, different station everyday, but it's on. I can remember the first time I heard this song so well. It was a sunny day, not super warm, but still beautiful. We had some country station on (btw I'm not a huge country radio fan) and as soon as it started I was interested. The line "why couldn't you stop that car from crashing" hit me super hard. It brought tears to my eyes, and still does everytime I hear it, because less then two months after we graduated a friend of mine and her little brother both died in a car accident while they were out with their cousins getting ice cream. I can remember going to her wake. I'd never meet her parents before. As I walked toward the coffin to see her for the last time I felt a tap on my shoulder, it was her mom. She looked at me and said "You're the one who always took her hiking aren't you?" I said I was, tears forming in my eyes. She saw them coming, looked at me and said "She always loved going on those hikes". We hugged and cried for what felt like eternity. When I stepped back I said "I'll never forget her, not a soul here today will ever forget how beautiful and kind your daughter was". She hugged me again and we went out separate ways. I think about her all the time, especially since I started listening to Tenille Townes, and this song in particular, more often. I hope she's been with me on every trail I've hiked in the last 11 years. I miss you. I love you. Forever 18. Rest Easy Beautiful.

Beautiful song! After reading some of the painful comments I knew I had to share this. I have lost several siblings and relatives to tragedy. The first almost killed me, it was my little sister who died at barely 18 years old, after 12 days in a coma following a motorcycle accident in which she was the passenger. I was angry with God at first. I had begged and groveled for mercy during those 12 days and he took her anyway. Eventually, I worked through it and came to the place where I knew he must have had a good reason, and that someday he would tell me why. A few years would pass before someone told me,” I have a message for you, I think you are mad at God and maybe you should reconcile that”. I thought, I’m not mad at God, but I sat down and prayed and had a conversation with him, during this, I came to an atonement, if you will. And I realized this is God I am talking to, the creator of all things including me, and that was his sole he took back that day, lent to me for a time, a wonderful time. He did not owe me anything and did not need to explain anything, he gave me a gift that blessed my life for the time I had her in it, and has blessed me with so many other wonderful soles, how could I complain or be bitter about this gift. During this atonement I received an incredible anointing (too long of a story in this already long story) Since then I was more capable and in a better place to handle the losses that would come. If you have read this far I think you are the reason I was compelled to post this. God bless and keep you.

I lost my best friend on Feb 11th 2017. He was killed in an ATV accident and it seemed like the world stopped for a few weeks. I felt helpless and was torn that he didn’t get to graduate. His jersey hangs on the wall. Fly high #36.

3 years ago me and my friends were in a car accident on the highway. It was our junior year and one of our best friends passed. This song makes me feel things in ways words don’t. I asked myself why her and not me for 3 years. But after listening to this song it made me realize maybe he gave me a second chance at life. I started going to church again trying to figure out why he let her die. I’ll never know the answer to that but I’m trying my best still to this day. My dad has cancer and he needs surgery. He's actually questioning if he should have it. He said my brother and I need insurance in case. But I would rather have him alive. He called my mom today in the car and my mom said he needs it. He said he was going to talk to the surgeon but he needs it. I am having a hard time thinking about life without him. My son was almost killed on December 16th 22' in a head on collision. He has a severe TBI, 12 broken bones, collapsed lung and bruised spleen and liver. He was given a 1% chance to live. We haven't been home in 5 months now but he is getting better. He was the starting middle linebacker for his high school and his number was 27. This song sure got personal.

This song was on my country music playlist this morning as I was making breakfast. It absolutely stopped me in my tracks and took my breath. I lost a wonderful friend the summer I was 15. He crashed his vehicle and passed away at the age of 17. One of our star football players in high school. That following school year, the starters carried his jersey onto the field at the beginning of every game. I'm 32, now, almost 33, and the lyrics of this song bring back all of those memories and questions. Thank you for writing this.

I was in a car accident that almost, almost took my life. After losing my Dad then my mom 4 months later, I list my husband to cancer. So it happens in 3's. I hit a tree, jaws of life were brought in. Foot completely crushed, ribs broken. They got me to the hospital, I wasn't fighting for my life, I gave in until I overheard a nurse after two operations to the Dr about how this patient wasn't going to make it. I remember thinking Wow the person going to die, then the nurse proceeded to say the name, I was floored she was talking of me. I remember thinking sorry God I love you but I'm not ready yet. That day I fought had to relearn how to walk all over again. God gave me my life. This song is exactly what I felt why can't you stop a car from crashing. We will never know. The will to live played a very important factor. I love God but he wasn't ready for me to be with my late husband or my parents. To this day I get pennies from heaven. That's what this song means to me. I did survive when I shouldn't of. God is good

This song speaks to me. It’s harsh when a young bright light goes dark in an instant. My uncle died with 3 friends, in a car crash, when he was 16. There was a plaque with all 4 boys hanging on the wall - for a life time. Well 2 lifetimes - been there for double the years he lived. I always remember him in his cross country jersey. He loved athletics - wrestling, triathlons, anything. I too have questions upon arrival in heaven.
