These conferences should be conducted the following day after the match when players are rested and relaxed. To ask players all those questions right after they had a tough match is ridicilous, they are tired and don't want to be there answering any questions.

That's just not practical in these times when news is instantaneously and constant. It is done the same way in EVERY other sport as well. The solution is that Rybakina, who when you break down the math, makes about $150,000 per match, needs to buck up and be professional.

Elena just doesn't enjoy these press conferences, and she doesn't have to! I don't know if they are compulsory for the top players, but she would rather not do them, clearly. Elena wants to play her sport, maintain her privacy and not be a celebrity. Power to her!

Few years ago Osaka said she won't do any press and she at least was threatened with paying fines. Not sure if there were or would be more consequences. So yeah, you can't just be like "I don't wanna". Sabalenka was given "no press" pass when her ex boyfriend killed himself.

I understand that she might not like them, I get it, I don't think any of the players do, especially after a tough match. But these pressers usually last 10 min or so and at the end of the day she's the face of tennis now and a role model to many young players.

I have had serious sleeping issues much of my life (I am 68). I can sympathize with her. Good sleep is essential, especially for world-class athletes. I don't think she is being rude at all. She is just very tired and depleted of energy. Also, many of the questions are repetitive and pointless.
