I'm not gonna lie, I always cry a bit when I watch your videos (in a good way). I love photography, but I live in America. And though I know it can be beautiful here, where I live there aren't many parks or social spaces, and very little greenery. And, in my opinion, the culture here is really lacking. From just the glimpses I get of Scotland and Japan, they seem so alive. People are outside, there are parks and vegetation everywhere, and the buildings all have such character. So, I suppose, whenever I see your videos, I get rather nostalgic for that liveliness, and it makes me yearn to be somewhere that isn't America. But really, I do want to thank you for your videos. Not only are your skills in speaking multiple languages, photography, and videography, very inspiring to me, but you give me glimpses of what life can be. The inspiration you give me is unmatched by any KZbinr I've ever come across. I truly hope the best for you, and thank you for the peace your videos and photos give.

I think you are right! People in Japan have probably found the right way to live with the modernity while at the same time have simple things that provide joy. Things like walkable cities and nature and parks around make every locality so cost and lively.
@camillao22704 күн бұрын
@@neeravnaik I totally agree! There's something about America that feels very lacking in this sense, and I really admire Japan's balance and design of these spaces. I hope one day America will design its public spaces differently.

So beautiful. The beautiful light elevates everything to Ghibli movie like scenes. Monorail, beautiful flowers, trains, kids playing baseball and a cute old man with a dog. Everything looked perfect. I think the blurry shot with the man riding home on the cycle is actually perfect

The bike shot looks decent when cropped to center the biker, but I still prefer the one with the runner. I think it works mainly thanks to the additional subject in the river bed. The two men and the transmission tower form a triangle that moves us from the foreground to the background, adding a sense of depth. The photo of the man with his dog is so nice - the lens renders them beautifully in the sunlight. And the train line at the end... 🙌💯

Lovely work, as always from you, Teo. 12:06 I think you pressed the shutter at exactly the right time, with the runner halfway between the sign and the edge of the frame. 11:24 What if you cropped in from the top and right ~40%, so you keep the low clouds and the cyclist and flowers but lose the apartment building and the higher clouds, removing distractions from the cyclist and also giving him some space to cycle into? Or would that much cropping go against your personal ethic/aesthetic?

For the shot at 11:30, I love the right side of the shot! I love the colors and I like how the towers (for lack of a better term) sort of frame the biker, as in he's inbetween them. That being said, I think what throws me off a bit is the fact that not much is going on ahead of the biker. I feel like everything seems sort of scrunched together on the right side of the frame, and there's not much going on on the left to really balance it out. Maybe if the biker was ahead a little bit more? Because looking at it again, he's not right in between the tower in the middle and the tower on the far left. If anything, he's closer to the middle tower and I think that adds to the feeling of being a little cramped on the right side of the frame. Sorry for the long reply! I really do think this is a beautiful picture, but I just wanted to point out what it was that might be throwing you off a bit about the picture as well. Love the video!

11:30 the shot is great overall in my opinion but I can see where you are comming from, perhaps shooting it vertically and having just the grass in the foreground and sky in the background could have made it feel a bit more focused and "clean", however still a great shot and sometimes it can be really hard to think of those tiny details in the moment especially when shooting film. Also I can't wait to go back to Japan next May and these videos aren't helping my patience 😔

Hello Teo, in the country I live in, scanning films is very expensive. If I do this with my own camera, will I get quality results?
@趣味生煎-w2s18 сағат бұрын
i recently shot a film stock which is called fuji c200 us version, it's pretty cheap but it looks just like kodak gold200😂
@teocrawford11 сағат бұрын
@@趣味生煎-w2s That’s probably because the only thing different is the packaging and you were actually shooting the exact same film😅 I can’t confirm this, but there are speculations (or maybe they are confirmed, not sure?) that all the Fuji films that are “Made in USA” are actually just repackaged Kodak films🤷

I used a Cosina 35mm f/2.8 for a couple years, but recently that one sadly seemed to have been damaged so I had to replace it a couple months ago. Now I'm shooting with a Pentax 35mm f/2. Sometimes, like for about 1% of my photos, I'll switch to the Pentax 50mm f/1.7 :)
