You can use Final Salvo as an animation cancel, meaning you can use it right after releasing Penetrating Arrow or Radiant Arrow or even during other animations to get rid of the after skill delay.

@SkanMLL this archer is 58 with a +8 bow. the classes are pretty well balanced at the moment, in single target situations they all do close to the same damage. There are no damage meters in the game yet so its hard to compare.

He actually gave a lvl 60 skill update video, as well as some different changes to the skills. Recent patch though courage and discretion, have been decreased from 50% to 30 %, and instead of slowing your attk speed and movement speed, they increased it.

if its listed as a rare glyph, I believe the rare glyphs come from turning in tokens you get from doing hardmodes, you'll be given a chest with a random rare glyph in it at the price of some hardmode tokens. the glyph you get, you cant choose, and you can get the same rare glyph more than once, and they aren't tradeable, so its a gamble for em

Just so you know, Salvo *cancels* the long recovery animation after firing Radiant or Penetrating Arrow. So pop the charge shot, quickly tap space (first shot of Salvo will go off) and then move or fire another shot much faster than you would otherwise. Amazing for both PvP and PvE. Rapid Fire or your regular attack is much better for regaining mana or doing DPS, though.

He was talking about glyphs. You get access to them when you reach lvl 20, and they work as a bonus to your special abilities. Like reduced cool downs, increased dmg and auch. What he ment about rotations, is the order of your attack. Do you set up traps followed up by a Break away bolt etc. or do you use a Penetrating Shoot followed up by Close Quarters and then a Break Away bolt and so on....

Some charged skills will slow your movement while you are charging. But their are things you can do to reduce this side effect, so that it becomes negligible.

I have a level 60 high elf archer, and i want to tell you, this guide is a little outdated on my version of the game. In Tera-Europe, Rain of arrows is available at 58 and there are 3 more skills aquired at 60: The 3 traps, but then you fire them from a distance. To be honest, i think archer damage is ok. My role in my group is just firing arrows in the enemy's butt, which i do so by spamming almost every skill but the static traps and the fired slow trap. But still this is a good guide :)

It's mark > posion > radiant > salvo > pen arrow till low on mana. If low on mana, use rapid fire till full, then start over.

You didn't mention that final salvo cuts the animation of your charge shots so once you see you have done dmg you can break the animation and start something else or you can use final salvo before your charge shot hits to cancel it out all together and you can runaway

Its an endgame mmo. Its open world but teleporting and air travel are still essential. Its dungeons are instanced. After Max level, you can get into other facets of the game like crafting, enchanting, and actually earning some real money because none of these are advised until you get lvl 50+

Hey Domeran. Great guide as usual. One (to me quite important) question: If I was looking for a class that excels at 1v1 PvP - which class would that be? I don't care if it is difficult to play or if it sucks at earlier levels. I also prefer mobile and ranged classes, but this preference is subordinate to the quality of being good at 1v1 PvP. I guess the Castanics thanks to their Dirty Fighting ability which gives them increased critical hit chance on attacks from behind and since they're a mobile class, they can benefit quite a bit.

In every game I have ever played Archery has been different, up until recent times. Going from being a physical attacker, to a physical attacker that can sometimes use magic, to a purely magic attacker, FFXI rendition of Ranger actually forced you to stand a certain range to do max damage, and did Spiked Damage with long attack delays. This is the only game I ever seen where the archer seems like a clone, Archers are not defaulted skills like Wizards/Mages/tend to be.

Sorry what I told about skills is for pvp. For pve I use: Veliks -> Poison -> Radiant -> Salvo to cut animation -> ROA -> Stun Trap -> Arrow Volley (with the glyps to speed cast of penetrating) -> Penetrating -> start over.

Also, as an Archer, you should stay within 10m if you want to do max damage. If you go past 10, you're damage is reduced by 13% (?) and another 12% from 16 to 18.

Love this video, you really explained all the skills nicely, thank you.. However, I have a question. I have just played the CBT 5 EU and after getting an archer to level 14 I have come across a lot of PvP and I found that I am slow... Players could actually hit me and run away from me, then come back and hit me again. I am wondering if we get faster at higher level, something like boots or running scroll. Also, does the looks of your bow and armor change if you pick different races?

Awesome guides, they really helped give a solid introduction on what to expect for each class. I do have a question though. People keep saying that Archers are basically only good for PvP and are less than average when it comes to PvE is this true?

excellent guide man what is AUE ? you say it multiple times or is does i have bad hearing ? PS: the last time you say it was at the end saying that the north america version that the archer maybe weak in AUE........( 13:15 )

The new patch is not a reason to not choose an archer. Only nerfed the glyph from close quarters and the effect of rapid fire on other players has been reduced to only the first 2 arrows. But instead of this, general dmg has been increased by 20%. Archer still rocks! My main char is an Archer and I'm so proud about it.

Awesome. I made an archer as my first class in CBT1 US. I fell in love. Now that I know they have sorta low AoE dps, I may change to a Sorcerer, Sorcs seem fun, and I think I'll enjoy them more. We'll see. Thanks for these guides.

No, you cannot. Attacks in this game consist of an "animation". And while there are some skills that are able to interrupt, or cancel, the animation of other skills. Once initiated your character is locked into said animation until it is finished. Then you can resume running, jumping, or whatever. What makes this mechanic totally fair is that the same applies to both NPCs and other characters. The trick is to be able to see the clues that they are about to attack and then block, or dodge.

im an archer with visionmaker weapon and the rest are regents (boss only rotation) 1.Mark 2.Rain of arrow 3.fire trap 4.arrow volley 5.poison arrow 6.raidient arrow (3rd lvl overcharge) 7.final salvo (1 hit cancel) 8.Penetrating arrow (2 or 4th overcharge) 9.Poison arrow 10. By then your rain of arrow would be up again ( if not there would only be 1-3seconds left) for me i do 1-3 auto atking when im in that situation (repeat)

You can still change them! When you learn a glyph, then it`s still not aktive, you have to aktivate it in your skill menu. You can learn every glyph in this game. I myself bought every glyph i possible can from the glyph shop next to the trainer in Velkia. I believe there are glyphes the npc don`t sells (drop only glyphes). I can`t tell for sure, but i heared about a glyph to not split the damage of fireblast when hitting multiple targets. I could not find it. I am quite new to Tera as you.

Great guide pal. But one question I want to play archer in first but Im reading in all forums that to do real damage as archer your need to be at last 6 meters from the target (as close as a melee) with your low archer health and your hight lvl skill to move slowly and do more damage so makes dificult to dodge boss aoes. I seems that the class is getting hard to play for moments =) interesting (Sorry for my bad english)

The idea distance is around 10-15 metres, that way you have your distance but you do not get penalized with the natural damage debuff at long range. That being said keep Velik's mark up and stack that poison arrow up. Even if it's at a 19 metre range. your debuff makes up for the damage loss. If you're high elf. Forget all about Rapid Arrow and Salvo. Just use your racial skill and pew with your Radiant/Penetrating arrow. Preferably at 10-15 metres. or closer if you have balls of steel.

Close quarters -> Stun trap -> BreakAway Bolt -> Roa -> Radiant -> Salvo -> Explosive Trap. This kills almost any class.

I believe the two star difficulty rating for the archer is misleading. The damage/range dropoff for them is noticeable, however they have the worst HP pool in the game. This means that, in order to play archer to its fullest ability, you need to have good knowledge of the fight. Additionally, many of the archer's animations have long wind-down periods where they're unable to move, putting them at greater risk if they choose to be in melee. Because of this I think their rating should be three.

Mario Rubino i stopped playin ages ago, yea i saw the trailer thingy for the gunner, i always liked ranged classes in mmorpg's, in warcraft my main was an undead sorcerer and alt was an orc shaman, never really liked melee toons for some reason, i got my youtube name from warcraft :) mage had an attack called frostfire bolt (it was crap an never used it but sounded cool) so thats how i chose my channel name

I can't accurately answer this question, I didn't level as an Archer. I had no trouble leveling as a sorc though, I don't think either of them would have any trouble, just be prepared to kite on both.

If I remember correctly each race gets a personal skill or bonus to something, but I could be wrong. But really it probably doesn't matter, as any bonuses or skills they get don't really affect anything major.

im starting to look back @ tera i have the game but never played it after NA beta's because well i was busy and i have some free time to play an MMO and was wondering if this is a good OVERALL ENDGAME game it looks super fun and the design is just amazing, im more pvping structured but i remember try Archer first run and they seemed fairly crappy to every other class my friends told me about i was just wondering if they are worth even playing and i know its skill based in PVP but that also plzty

I didn't mean it like that just looks so similar in execution and style. It's weird because archers/hunters/rangers whatever you wanna call em used to not have any defined characteristic in videogames. Now all of a sudden most videogames seem to be adopting WoW's model of it. I mean I played games where hunters were pretty good melee, to games where they heal themselves and the party, to OP defense ignoring machines, to NOW the trap/pet model with usually 1 button spam.

on the charging arrow I was wondering because there is an animation of the arrow can you shoot it slightly before it fully charges and it wil still count as fully charged? and does it deal more damage if it's not charged or when it's halfway charged? an other thing is breakaway bolt is too slow for me so I usually do my right click most of the times

You recommended that Archers should release full charge as soon as possible and avoid going into overcharge too long. Berserkers do the exact opposite, as going into maximum overcharge and letting the overcharge release the skill itself automatically will significantly increase damage output. Does the same mechanics not apply to Archers, or is the damage increase not worth it for Archers without the high crit potential of Berserkers?

I played Everquest when I was lil and I played WoW and They were not even REMOTELY similar at all, looking or played. What I recall of Rangers in Everquest is that they also could had many skills melee range, didn't ever make use of traps the used nature magic, had no threat removing abilities, Pet taming was temporary, could transmorph into animals, had high evasion. That's enough crap to name that already makes them different then the summoneresque hunter of WoW

question: i only played tera for 1 day, but how do you charge and move at same time...i mean if i hotkeyed penetrating arrow at 2, how can I move around while holding button 2? Do I have to set mouse keys to penetrating arrow and radiating arrow then?

Negative. You can however macro chat commands to quick access via the default E hotkey, but none of that applies to skills unfortunately

I'm surprised I'm still getting replies to this comment. The point of the comment was the class i was talking about lacked ANY INNOVATION AT ALL. It's very ridiculous how ppl focus on the fact I said wow without reading the whole idea of the statement. Archer's (the class) has damn limitless ways of being altered. Yet for some reason not only has this game chose to follow a very similar model to an older game but even chose to not even be innovative with the naming of such skills.

it must be glyphed, the first glyphs i went with was radiate and pen movement restrictions (thats to 32) then u pick up the mana buff for rapid fire and then the chains beyond that, cause 30-38 u cant sustain radiant/pen consistently in a rotation w/out mana, even with pots i still run out and have to grab a skittle

I am also new but to my understanding, simply buying them does not activate them. Once you activate them there is an NPC that says you can change for a fee in case you decide to change later or make a mistake. Not sure how big that fee is, hoping it's not too big as I'll be switching a lot back and forth.

I know WoW is the big popularized game and whatnot but honestly, these are core game skills. Just because WoW made it so known doesn't mean that it's a carbon copy. It's like saying, "He's shooting a bow! My hunter does that in WoW! What a rip!"

derpofepic Just saying now, don't use this as a guide. It's severely outdated and a lot of his info is just wrong. Example: Poison arrow is awful at end-game, like literally the worst skill in the archer's arsenal. Avoid it like the plague but feel free to use it while leveling because the damage is amazing at the start but since it doesn't scale with your gear it gets worse and worse. People say do not overcharge but believe or not, while people do not overcharge to 2 or 3 rd level, by doing that you will have to do more auto attacking, useless skills like web arrow in a boss fight which doesnt do much dmg, rapid fire is a good example, i do not use rapid fire at all. What i am trying to say here is that, the purpose of me overcharging skills is to consume and also a better dmg compared to using rapid fire and auto attk until my rain of arrow skill pops back up

Game companies now a days have it easy they can essentially sell the same damn game over again and just modify how the character looks, and set slightly different margins of difficulty and market it like something new when it's not. It just makes me appreciate new releases like Age of Wushu which shows Devs actually took time to actually DEVELOP a NEW game with NEW concepts not JUST NEW GRAPHICS. @the illiterates I NEVER EVEN said TERA (The whole game) was like WoW. warrior has got some of the best dps(except for sorc's) they crit more than any class, and when paired with a mystic healer they never need to combo attack at all if they also have right crystals(crit from behind gives mana regen, and normal mana regen crystals).

Hi Hakurai, could you ask Stephen how much damage he is doing at level60 with 3rd-stage-charged Radiant Arrow, 3rd-stage-charged Penetrating Arrow, Breakaway Bolt and normal attack? All at 10y distance of course. Many archer players are really confused regarding how the power of our charge skills are calculated with each charge. Thank you!

You didnt mention the single best thing about Final Salvo. The reason the skill is good is it cancels animation. Like the radiant arrow leapback animation.
