My employer laid me off in December 15th and when I messaged her about coming back to work that was in February and she told me then that she wasn't going to call me back and with all the times I watch the employment lawyers about what I could receive for a severance and the age of me is 59 years old and I work there for 10 years she told me that cra said she owes me two days for every year I work for the company is this right

How about if your told that the job is moving to home office, and we will just hire a coordinated to do your job?

Hi Dianne, good question. In Canada, an employer can let an employee go or fire them, and replace them with someone else. This is called a termination without cause. In order for this termination to be legal, they must provide the employee with a FULL severance package - as much as 24 months' pay, depending on numerous factors. If they fail to pay the correct amount of severance, the employee has been wrongfully dismissed, and can file a claim for full severance pay through an employment lawyer. Well I was accused for harassment all lies from employees who didn’t like me and I never really got verbal warning before, they gave me one letter but It was regarding something else and they just mentioned insubordinate behaviour,in same week I heard from Union that owner and manager want to make letter and investigation with Union about me harassing some employees which was all made up and fabricated by new employees who don’t like .Following week still under investigation I was under mental stress when I was doing my daily task as housekeeper and I made mistake ,next day at work they called me in office and they fired me on spot letter waiting for me termination with cause ,they never gave me chance to fix issue or improve even thou so worked for company 7 years and never had in my file nothing about harassment but company got new owner last summer ,now because I’m fired with cause I don’t know if I’m going to get my EI even thou that cause was never proven

What about if you were let go for not being vaccinated?

An employer can fire an employee if they don't get vaccinated against COVID-19. However, it would be a termination without cause, and they would need to provide the employee with proper severance pay - as much as 24 months' pay. It would not be a valid termination "for cause" - meaning without a severance package. The termination could also qualify as a human rights violation, resulting in additional compensation for the fired individual.
