I was a little kid when my parents took me and my younger sister to see this in theaters summer of 91 and, my child mind was blown. Not only is there the right amount of fake prosthetic Arnie heads, an obsession kicked off in the original Terminator movie, but we also got a fair amount of Robert Patrick prosthetic fake heads, and some Linda Hamilton fake head action, too. Oh and the CG for the T-1000 was, ok, I guess, Lol. Not as cool as prosthetic fake heads though

T2 is the perfect sequel imo. It's all downhill from here. Terminator salvation had some good ideas but they made the resistance too organized. And Terminator gensys had a good idea for the first half of the movie. Alternative 1984 was a cool idea. But a poor second half and poor casting doomed the movie

The Protectinator. As a kid in the early 90's this movie was absolutely amazing to us and still is. We were just like John Connor. "Easy Money" This was during the birth of CGI and it was mind blowing, just like Jurassic Park. They didn't depend on it, they utilized it in its infancy. There are actually two sets of twins in this, the cop's and Sarah's. I honestly cried at the end the first time. I can't lie. "It's when there's nothing wrong but, you cry any way."

@VerowakReacts I really hope that you see this comment because it's important that you do. There's one other thing of the Terminator that you have to see and watch on KZbin because you couldn't see this in any ordinary movie theater at all. At Universal Studios Florida and the other Universal theme parks, there was a Terminator attraction called Terminator 2:3-D Battle Across Time. This particular attraction came out in 1996 at Universal Studios Florida. James Cameron came back to direct the actual movie portion that's played in the attraction, as well as James Cameron was able to get Around Schwarzenegger, Edward Furlong, Linda Hamilton, and Robert Patrick to reprise their roles as the Terminator, John Connor, Sarah Connor, abd the T-1000. The storyline takes place in the present time. Somehow, someway, Cyberdyne Systems is back and better than ever. There was a pre-show before the actual show portion. A character named Kimberly Duncan, who's Cyberdyne's Director of Community Relations and Media Control, is the host of the pre-show. She's put together a media presentation about Cyberdyne Systems and Skynet, and all of the different inventions and technologies that they've created so far. Halfway through the pre-show, both Sarah Connor and John Connor interrupt the show, and they warn the guests about how Cyberdyne is a menace and that they're planning on stopping Skynet. They tell everybody that they have 5-minutes to get out before they break in. Kimberly Duncan then gets everything under control again and gets the signal back to her media presentation again. Eventually in the show portion itself has live action stunt work on stage, pyrotechnics, and many other things. Sarah Connor and John Connor disrupt the Kimberly's presentation of Cyberdyne's newest Terminators called the T-70s. The T-1000 shows up to kill both Sarah and John. But the Terminator shows up to save them from the T-1000. Then the Terminator and John Connor ride into Los Angeles in the year 2029 to destroy Skynet. Along the way, you encounter Mini-Hunters, an Endo Skeleton, and a stronger enemy called the T-1,000,000. James Cameron said that since he couldn't make a 3rd Terminator movie for movie theaters, that this attraction is the conclusion to his Terminator series, and that this attraction is a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day. So whenever you have the time or the chance, you'll have to watch some videos of this attraction. 😀

@@VerowakReacts You hit the nail on the head. The practical effects, filming on real locations and stunts is what makes movies like this stand up. CGI was just a tool. Fun fact, the helicopter under the bridge, really happened. No way would a movie production company would allow that to happen today because of insurance and liability. I highly recommend watching the behind the scenes to see how this movie was created.

Re: living 126yrs - There’s a TV show later. A terminator is sent back like 80yrs too far, and ends up killing the person who builds the building where he’s supposed to kill someone (government official, so that the bad guy will exist), so he starts his own all-Union construction company, so he can underbid the competition, and build that building anyway. Then he builds himself into the wall of the room where he will eventually kill the person. So 80yrs later, he busts out of the wall and kills the guy. It’s an interesting comment on humanity that the “most efficient” way to accomplish any of these long-term plans is to treat your workers well. In the show, they send Summer Glau As a reprogrammed female terminator, plus Kyle Reese’s brother back to help a slightly older John.

And this is also the best,in my opinion, the "Terminator" series. Fun Fact: Linda Hamilton's(Sarah Conner) twin sister played Sarah Connor in a couple of different scenes. 1) Foundry scene (as the T-1000/Sarah Connor). Whenever both Sarah and the T-1000 (disguised as Sarah) are both visible in a shot she's playing whichever is less in-focus. 2) And I think she also played Sarah during the nightmare scene when she sees herself playing with a toddler John. Nobody seems to put two fun facts together: that Linda Hamilton worked out a lot to look how she does, and that her twin sister doubled for her in some scenes. This means her sister had to workout just as much.

It's always so interesting to see reactors go into this blind. The final trailer that came out just before the premiere spoiled the fact that Arnold was the good guy, so it ruined the surprise. I was lucky enough to watch this in the theaters when I was a kid. I wish I could fully articulate just how insane those stunts and special effects were back then. It truly heralded the beginning of the 90's action movie genre. The director's commentary and behind the scenes production footage are definitely worth watching; there are so many cool little details that went into this. Linda Hamilton trained extensively for the movie; that one-armed reload scene at the end was added specifically because she'd become strong enough to do it. She also smacked that mental hospital orderly with the broom handle for real, because the actor kept on holding back and ruining the previous takes. She also learned how to pick locks just for the escape scene. Arnold nearly broke his fingers when he tried doing that shotgun twirling trick and picked up the wrong prop. When they filmed the helicopter sequence, they really did fly it under the overpass; almost everyone was too afraid to try it because of how insanely dangerous it is, but the stunt pilot stepped up and did it _twice._ There are several more stories like this, so look them up sometime if you want.

Fun fact #2: A couple scenes were shot by James Cameron himself; The truck through the overpasses barrier and the helicopter under the overpass. He did this because his film crew didn't want to be the ones to film deaths if something went wrong.

When this movie came out, Guns 'n Roses was a mega band and did some of the songs in the movie. Thus Arnold walking into the mall with a box of roses hiding a gun... edit: the director cut has a lot of great little extras too, showing the T1000 being damaged and starting to 'meld' into things it touched.

My brother Raymund met Linda Hamilton on the streets of Vancouver on his way to work at Canada Post. He awkwardly asked for an autograph, expecting her to say no. She said yes and waited patiently as my brother sat on a bench and fumbled through his bag for a pen. Linda rubbed his shoulder to calm him down! Raymund got her autograph and still remembers how nice and friendly Linda Hamilton was. Raymund also helped the film crew for Arnie’s film ‘The 6th Day’ by renting equipment, space and the 5th floor Helipad of Canada Post. He didn’t get to meet Arnie, but still has one of the signs (‘Replacement Technologies’) used in the film as a ‘thank you’ from the film crew.

I've always been sympathetic with John in the scene where Sarah yells at him for risking himself to break her out. I can't believe it's taken me thirty years to realize he could have just sent the terminator in. He didn't really add a lot to the process other than make the stakes higher.

That scene in which Sarah scolds John for risking his life helping here is the only time you hear Edward Furlong's voice as it sounded on the day of shooting the scene. All other scenes Edward redubbed John's lines of dialogue later because his voice broke during filming, but in the case of that scene, because of his character being in such an emotional state it was questionable whether Edward could have replicated that in the dubbing studio all that time later, given that he had never acted before at the time.

One thing I liked about the extended version is that it made it much clearer as to how John knew which of the Sarahs was the real one and which was the T-1000 in disguise, because of John looking down at the floor and the T-1000's Sarah had noticeable glitching that caused the outer edges of his shoes to seemingly melt into the floor slightly, so he would have known which Sarah to obey after that. Because that foot-glitching is cut from the theatrical version I never knew how John could possibly have known which was the fake Sarah. Another bit I liked which I also thought was a shame was cut from the theatrical print was when the T-1000 had killed Todd and Janelle and eventually Max, the dog (who the T-1000 at the time thought was called Wolfie because of the T-800's ruse) before the T-1000 picks up the dog's collar and sees the name "Max" on it, showing that he now knew that his own ruse had been rumbled.
