I’m just now reading about this EFI installation so despite its original post date , it’s news to me. I should mention that I’m a satisfied customer of CJPP and I feel like Bill Tumas does an excellent job of educating and informing classic Mustang owners like myself. When it comes to EFI conversions, this Holley Terminator is as good as they come. It offers many benefits when compared to a conventional carburetor with precise fuel metering , better cold starts and in most cases an increase in fuel economy. But in the big picture it’s function is very similar to a highly tuned carburetor because it bolts onto an intake manifold that’s designed for the air /fuel distribution as provided by a carburetor. Intakes designed for wet flow charge induction have to compromise equal fuel distribution to each cylinder because of unequal port lengths and location. Despite the better fuel atomization offered by the EFI throttle body, there’s still a tendency for the fuel particles to drop out of suspension with the air while passing through the intake manifold. To justify the expense and reap the benefits of true EFI the fuel has to be introduced into the air flow charge as close to each intake valve as practical and sequentially timed according to the engines needs as determined by the PCM or in the case of a stand alone retro-fit installation , the SEFI control package. SEFI has been available on new cars for decades the same benefits that it offers should be made affordable and easily available to classic muscle car owners as well. It would offer a wider range of tuning options compared to throttle body injection. Many of the newer aluminum intake manifolds offered for carbureted V-8 applications already have pads located at the mouth of each intake port that are drilled and tapped for nitrous nozzles. They can be easily utilized for fuel injection and the performance benefits of sequential port fuel injection tuning can be fully realized. I have owned an “M” code 1970 Mach 1 similar to the one used in this article for 35 years. I’m currently in the process of making major changes for some serious street /strip performance with the 351 Cleveland being extensively modified by using the old school components that Clevelands respond to so very well. There might be a EFI conversion in its future.....maybe ? And the old school beat goes on ....

Does the Mustang have more power after this upgrade or does it have less? Is this upgrade just going to add drivability and easy cold starts. If so why bother?
@AnthonyHernandez-xp7gd5 жыл бұрын
Arkansas I don’t have it installed but what I’ve asked mechanics around they said yes to all those questions, you will get better air and fuel mixture, easier cold start, smoother idle and I believe it’s a self learning system so you might not need to fiddle with it too much after installation

@Zerogivengarage9 жыл бұрын
The owner of the car really doesn't keep track but given cold start issues etc the fuel injected setup will use less fuel and be more efficient.
@YoMoore199 жыл бұрын
Bill Tumas I asked this because i was curious if mounting a system like this on a 7L V8 would improve its fuel consumption enough to make it an everyday car here in Europe, where a liter of gas is 2 dollars. No matter how rich you are, but paying 60 dollars in gas for a 100km trip is not that pleasant.
@rogerramjet50929 жыл бұрын
+Vicol Andrei : your best bet to increase fuel mileage is a modern overdrive transmission. The fuel injection will help but unless the carb is way rich. There won't be a major increase in mileage. Fuel injections real world advantage is drivability start, just drive, throttle response it just runs better all the time, any temp,any place,ect.

nothing for us one barrels lately though . ive really wanted to add some reliablity for my 65 inline , but its always about the 4 barrels , which is expensive, if yall could make a video on what it takes to convert a 6 to a 8 , correctly , im sure alot of us 6 banger would be interseted

just a suggestion ,cause no one has a true video on this explaining all the details yet its a very popular thing to do. It could bring lots of views .

PWWWWWWAAAAAA It is actually a video we have considered. The issue we have is the true correct way to do the swap would be a VERY long video. If we consider it in the future it would probably be in multiple parts. The other issue is some of the parts needed for the swap are not available new and are not always easy to find.
@RealJerb10 жыл бұрын
Bill Tumas well it would be nice to list what you can and ideas to find the parts cause things like the rear axle have other ways around going stock (like say other axles that will translate with the mustang body, or things like the independent rear if you want to put some money into it)
@RealJerb10 жыл бұрын
6 bangers are easy to get ahold of and are cheap way to be a classic mustang, i think not only would it be a good series for cj's but you can install some other parts of yalls that arent related to the conversion to show them off like your weekend wrench

Bill Tumas but i love your stuff and have done much business with you all, your videos is what sets cj's apart from the others and i really thank you the help yall give to this amazing community . Keep up the great work and im always putting the word out about you guys here in the mustang club

I am looking to buy this system but have not figured out where I can get power on the red/white wire during cranking and running without taking it from the coil wire, which is not suggested. I am running a MSD ready to run dist in a 66 Mustang. Where can I hook the Red/White wire?
@danielwilson66656 жыл бұрын
Ron Knoche...having a reliable source of power with sufficient capacity to operate the Terminator control unit is essential. The requirements and suggestions are well detailed in the installation documents. If this information isn’t easily understood then you might want to consider having a qualified professional do the installation for you. A power wiring mistake could be a little frustrating or very expensive. Always read the entire set of instructions before beginning the installation. It could make a huge difference in a successful installation or a smoldering mess.

Hi there, because this has the electronic device to answer all the questions like cubic inches etc, could this be used for multiple engines? Just change all the parameters? For example, my '68 has the 289 which I'll be running for a while, but plan on stepping up and swapping in a 408 ci windsor.

CJ Pony Parts another question my battery is in my truck, and as said in the video red and black cables must go to battery, does the kit come with enough wire to take it to the trunk or will I need extra wire to hook it?
@I_like_turtles_674 жыл бұрын
